what is the difference between the following two sentences and why is the first one the correct answer?

1)あたらしいテレビを子供に壊された。

2)あたらしいテレビを子供に壊させられた。

both are causative passives right?

2nd answer means you allow the kids to spoil the tv.

Second this but minor correction. First 1 is spoiled by the kid.
Second one is like the kid spoil the tv under your orders. Usually させる = you order someone to do it.
壊させられた = the tv got spoiled by the kid as a result of your orders/instructions

depends on the question bah.

1 ish broken (by accident presumably)
2 ish sort of purposely or intentionally.

so depends on what the question wants.
