Another fake from Qoo10 delivered by Pactech

OMG! I am another one hit my this scam. Android ver 4.2.1 HM 2013022 MIUI-JHACNAH2.0 and cannot update using the Xiaomi link. Also don't even see the Play Store. All the sites are China sites incl Xiaomi store. I can understand if it is programmed for China but at least the updates should work. To me, that is the confirmation that it is fake.
Wrote to Qoo10 and they directed me to brand qoo10 email address which I wrote. No reply.
I left a post on Pactech's Facebook - no reply.

If we file small claims, will Qoo10 then have to respond? They have disclaimer but they are the party we bought from. It should be up to Qoo10 to get an answer from pactech even with the disclaimer because it is misrepresentation.

Maybe if a few of us file the claims to small claims together.

I bought from qoo10 before and encountered a somewhat similar problem (Issue with seller). Qoo10 should be able to help you out with it. I was offered a exchange/refund.

Go to the shop and ask for refund. My Bro-in-law bought 3 sets from them and they are significantly reduced specs version of the Redmi selling locally. We pointed out to them that they advertise based on Singapore spec so since the phone received have a different spec, we exercise our right for refund. They gave refund promptly on the spot.

Pls call and talk to them. We call them and spoke to their sales person professionally and firmly and they were quite apologetic about the whole thing. But what left a bad taste in our mouth was that they claim some buyers knew about the differences in spec but they were ok to continue to use it. We were like " WTF, if other people accept and eat sh*t, we are expected to do the same?"

Ask for your refund right away. Then worry about the rest of the stuff.

Also pls see below thread for further awareness,

No sure why people refuse to go to local Telco shop to buy. All you pay is the extra of pre-paid card.

Anyway, I believe Redmi is just a brand. The phone most likely OEM from some China hardware maker. This kind of brand can come and go.

Many get fished as they think is very seller able as is always say out of stock (basically the I-product selling method). However, ready stock is always available in local Telco shops !

from compassvale, hougang, orchard and northpoint...so telco hold their stock unless i sign contract instead of prepaid. Now you can understand the telco evil business tactics.

i mention m1 and singtel only bcz they got those prepaid.

Ask CSO, they dun know when stock come.

Let me reveal the sellers in Qoo10 which sell the fake redmi phone, anybody who bought from them or going to buy please be aware and check your phone:

1. PACTECH COMPUTER HOUSE (Purchase option already removed)
2. SG Buyers (Purchase option already removed)
3. Apple Store (Purchase option already removed)
4. sinoteck (NEW posting!! Don't buy from them, 100% fake, check the picture of box in their advertisement, slightly different packaging but EXACTLY same manufacturer address and date as my previous fake redmi phone!!! And their shop is located in China)
5. Light_Of_Heaven (Seller claims to have red version in stock, as you know red version is very very rare, so high chance it's fake, their shop is also located in China, watch out!)

I just realized that there are more Redmi phone sellers in Qoo10 now, some of them are very hard to tell whether they are selling genuine phones or not, so to be conservative, don't buy from Qoo10. I got my genuine phone from the Xiaomi Singapore, really a good phone!! :)

I feel that we should form an alliance, and report to the police with all our vouchers as proof. If some of us still holding the counterfeit phone, we can present to the police as well.
I just feel that this industry is growing too rampantly, and we can do something to stop them from flooding their low quality products to Singapore.

I guess it has to be clear with proof to claim as counterfeit. As Xiaomi itself is also not original maker (as I mention, it may be same hardware loaded with different OS version).

So is important :
1. Is this a authorized brand of Xiaomi?
Is Xiaomi taking any action to these so call "counterfeit"
seller?
2. Same hardware specification against what is advertised?
Clearly, if what you get is different from advertised. You
stand a good chance especially if this is local seller.

There is many version of Xiaomi as I mention before. So it depends on where are them imported from. The key is buyer, why support them if the "brand" is to create out of stock environment and making people buy and sell at more expensive price? Worse is some people just buy because it is Xiaomi !!

You are sounding like Xiaomi deserves it and the buyers deserve it. You are right in a certain extent. But when you consider that Xiaomi is making big money, and the counterfeit manufacturer is making big money, the only party who is suffering is the customer, and the worst thing is that some customers don't even know about it, if no one cares, then we really deserve it, all of us.

They make big money because we all jump into it think the phone is cheap and good !! Actual fact is there is also many similar phone (especially those well know China brand) to choose.

Common problem people fall in is like those advertisement term like Quad core, many did not check what type of Quad core to start with.

By the way, I under many is still stuck with the last ordered. Did not get the refund yet. Also did not get the compensation as indicate in their face book. So even the original Xiaomi company is not to be trusted. Why we think those sold by other party is ok ?

You still don't get it, so you don't care.
I'm sorry I don't know too many theories behind, but I just want to spread the message so that it can help people who bought the fake phone.

I've also bought a cloned redmi, but did it intentionally because I wanna make it a decent phone as I'm an Android troubleshooter freak.

First, I disabled all the unnecessary xiaomi apps including the market and install all the google services including google play instead.

Next, I install nova launcher to replace the buggy so-called MIUv5, and also install other better third-party camera apps to somehow boost the 5MP camera.

With nova launcher, I can set to lightning scroll speed and better customization of icons. With dual core running, it's actually quite good with 1GB ram.

Battery life is also decent, not like many said that it died within short period of time. The battery life lasted 1 full day which is quite impressive.

Bad thing about it is the the toy-like earpiece. The sound is very very the bad. Sound worse than reddifusion and it's is difficult to insert into ears. And the GPU is only single core Mali-400MP instead of the Galaxy S3's quad core Mali. So to prevent possible over-heating, I try not to play high end 3D games like Asphault 8 or NBA2K14 for too long.

Overall I rate the cloned redmi after the tweaks: 6.5/10 for a decent entry-level Android phone.

its all about brand perceptions... xiaomi has established itself as a brand so if a seller brands it as xiaomi then the customer expects it to be xiaomi. if the seller sell you a no-name brand and you realise it is a fake model of a no-name brand, for the same specs, would you feel as heart pain? probably not cos u did not buy it for the brand in the first place

to the android troubleshooter u may want to consider the k-touch w95. prc phone. specs similar but lower price at $100 on qoo10. The kind of phone that go missing or brick not so heart pain :s13:

k-touch w95 only has 512MB ram and uses broadcom cpu with lesser screen resolution.

My cloned redmi bought at SGD150 with slightly better screen resolution and more reputation mediatek cpu and most importantly 1GB ram yes!;)

In Sim lim square I know the shops sell original redmi with the verification sticker still unchecked and original specs, imei and an. I just got mine from them. When I check the verification sticker with xiaomi website ,the website will reply back with the time and date the order was made, and place of delivery, and number of times the sticker number was checked.(it shd show (1)! So what I got from the shops at Sim lim is a parallel import, wcdma version that was sold and delivered to shenzen then reshipped to Singapore. If u read the net, everyone one else is getting original redmi like this, and no playstore, but can self install and miui can self update too.

So to clarify, for SG market, there are 4 versions running around

1. Original telco set(comes installed with google playstore)
2.parallel imported original set but meant for international 3g use.(wcdma,no google play but can install)
3.Parellel imported original set but meant for use in mainland china(td-scdma, no google play but can install)
4. Fake sets. (Everything also jialat)
