Fan Controller Question

bosses, i got a question.

What happens if I overload the amount of Ampere per channel? Kazemaster Ace max is 1A per channel, but I'm running 2x0.52A for one of them. It's running fine... for now.

I know it's not recommended, but what's the worse case senario I should expect?

If you overload the fan channel, you would probably burn out the fan controller.

wah, but slightly overload also cannot? 1.04A when max is 1A. There's no headroom at all?

It's ok for such small overloading, touch the wire of the fan, if it's warmer than any other cable in the system, it's under haevy load, you should stop overloading it further.

But i don't think 0.04A out of 1.0A will heat up the wire to the extend of warm to the touch.

Went Uvnium today, saw the Lampron FC (4 knob one), its build like quite solid.

the whole thing is very solid. But I think the design is slightly flawed, which is why the high pitch noise is emitted. I'll change the capacitor the next time I head to SLT because with this issue I don't think anyone will buy the FC from me.

So er, boss commach, I shouldn't have any problems overloading by 0.04A right? =X

Shouldn't have much problem.. overload by 0.04a only. If unlucky, cap pop

There is usually some margin of tolerance. For example, a Seasonic X-650W PSU can supply over 700W without blowing.

Ya, that's for PSU where $XXX are spent But I wasn't sure if the makers put in the same amount of effort in fan controllers as well

It's ok for 0.04A overload, probably the fan RIP before the FC knock out.

hi boss, just an update. I had changed the capacitor to 16v/220uf and 25v/220uf and 16v/220uf (105degree) but the high pitch sound is still there. So I guess I'll be throwing the FC away lol. No point keeping it when it's "flawed".

Meanwhile, I had been thinking... going to change to a HAF932 soon and currently thinking about the fans allocation.

Ch1: 2x S-Flex G (0.24A each) + Slipstream 1900rpm (0.53A) Total 1.0A
Ch2: 2x Slipstream 1900rpm (0.53A each) Total 1.06A
Ch3: 2x Slipstream 1900rpm (0.53A each) Total 1.06A
Ch4: 2x Slipstream 1900rpm (0.53A each) Total 1.06A

I shouldn't have problem running this config right? Kinda worrying that I'm loading every channel at max ampere allowed...

Ch3: 1x Slipstream 1900rpm (0.53A)
Ch4: 2x Slipstream 1900rpm (1.06A)

Just want to say, my channel 4 of Kazemaster Ace died liao (the only channel overloaded in that FC). The voltage will automatically go down to 0, and the 1900rpm max became 1300rpm only (and still going down). Sometimes I can't even switch off that channel, with the knot turned to the left all the way, it will continue spinning at 300rpm instead of switching off.

So if the FC says 1A max, really 1A max lol... totally no margin of tolerance.

I'm having the same issue, but it may not be as bad as others.

I have 5 fans connected and all of them buzz, like there a little something touching the blades.

Doesn't happen when attched directly to the PSU.

With the NZXT sentry it happens at ALL speeds 40-100%.

I have Noctua P12 fan and if I attach the Low Noise Adapter (resistor) the noise goes away, but so does the air flow.

Has anybody managed to mod the Sentry so it makes less noise?
With a multimeter I can see the volts going up and down ~5%... there must be some way to smooth out the current.
