Fans Installation HELP

Bought some fans today but totally new to this fan stuff..

A few questions I have but firstly, how to install bitfenix spectre pro LED in the exhaust?

I was given this set of accessories, IDK what the long stuff does and the 'o-rings'(is it?) is suppose to do. Can't seem to figure out how to install and I tried just screwing it in place with the short screws, but the screws cant fit in any of the holes.

Am I stupid or is there a trick to it??

Also, bought some JetFlo's, but cant use with sentry 2, the connector type different. How? What kind of adapter and where to buy..?

These fan stuff 200x more difficult that DIY-ing the whole PC itself, Don't even have manual and I cant google out anything useful.

To know which is exhaust or intake. Just spin the blades. Usually you can tell which is intake and which is exhaust.

Usually the sticker part indicates the front of the fan. Thats where the air is coming in from. The one without the sticker is actually the back of the fan. Thats exhaust.

Where the fan hub is exposed, that's the intake side.

Where the fan hub is covered by a support structure/sticker, that's the exhaust side

Nono, not direction. As in how to mount it. Literally how to mount it. The screws cant even fit in I'm given some rubber long thingy and IDK how it works at all.

the long thing is rubber holder for the fan to reduce vibrations. the o rings i m not sure. so far nvr use the rubber thing before so not really sure how to use it.

you should be able to use the screw to screw the fans directly onto the case using the holes on the fans. need to use some force though cause the fans normally does not have threads for the screw to be screwed in easily. (thats what i experienced with my fans so far)

can share how the fans are after you installed? i m thinking of getting another fan maybe a 140mm bitfenix spectre pro one for intake and change out my current cooler master one.

Oh that is not a screw. That is a rubber type. That can be easy and also difficult to install. Just use a small plier and grip it. Do not clamp too hard. Just nice and put into fan mounting holes. Pull it till it is secured.

Cant screw in, like the holes not meant to be screwed into? I totally don't get it. I take the fan out and directly try to screw the screw in just the fan alone in the few holes, all is damn tight I scared I widen something that I not suppose to.

The o ring is washer lai de. That can be use also.

need to apply some force i think. my CM 90cfm fans also very hard to screw in for the first time. even now sometime if no level the screw properly also will feel very tight to screw them in.

the enermax one i got slightly easier but also need quite abit of force.

Also another qn. NZXT Sentry 2 have a 3 pin male, but my JetFlo's have 4 pin female. And cannot fit since the 3pin male is like this

So the 4pin female cannot go in cos too big.

Do I need a 3pin to 3pin or 4pin to 3pin? Or both also can?

Ok basically can use fingers de. the longer portion of the rubber screw is actually go thru from the back of the chassis. Then after which just pull inwards to the fan holes.

Insert the rubber screws from the outside 1st, use your hand pull it until the 'o' shape touch the casing. Align then insert the case fan, use plier to pull the end until the fat part of the rubber screw goes through the holes on the fan. That is how I do it anyway..
I actually have no idea what's the o-ring is for though..

I think it's normal to have a very tight fit when first installing fans. The fan holes is normally(?) unthreaded and therefore why it's hard to screw it in.

I realised I have a terrible sentence structuring skill while typing this..

Edit: Also, try to use those fitting phillips screw driver for fan screws. Last time I use those flat head screw driver, the screw chipped off easily

In my experience, the back exhaust is the WORST. The mobo will mostly block access to one side of the fan holes, and with rubber screws you have to use a plier to remove it from the inside. I don't know but you have to have a pretty agile fingers to dismount the rubber screw with the mobo still in place.

The O ring is for the screws. It's to reduce vibrations.

Screw head -> your casing -> O ring -> fan

Yes, it can be screwed in. You just need a hellua force to turn the screwdriver. Some fans are easy to screw, some fans make you think they forget about the threading is it All about the QC of the fan. I prefer screwing in to rubber screws. Rubber screws look flimsy.

As for your Sentry 2 connector, you need to get a adapter. 3pin -> 4pin adapter that looks like this:

OR you can just resolder to the other type of 3pin:

Which is what I did last time.

OR just use a cutter to chop off away the walls of your closed 3pin connector from the Sentry. Frankly I have no idea why they chose a closed 3pin connector instead of a open one.
