Because that is part of the USB PD specifications.

Now I use two original Huawei 22.5W quick charger for my Huawei P20 and Nova 5T (edited: both support Huawei SuperCharge up to 22.5W).

And then we have three Apple 10W chargers for iPhone X, 7+, iPad 2018 and iPad 2019. Among them only iPhone X supports USB PD fast charging but so far I do not see the need yet.

For the older Oppo R11S, the Oppo fast charger is not bad.

And I have the Ugree two port USB Type A 36W charger as well for other devices (not really utilizing the fast charging QC 3.0 capability).

Maybe I will take a look at the Ugreen USB PD charger later this year after getting iPhone 12.

Yes, my Acer Swift 3 laptop bought in Dec 2017 already has the Type C port, but I think it is not for charging purpose.

Hmm, it seems to me iPad 2019 (7th generation) does support USB PD quick charging.

The compatible list shows iPad 7th generation is supported.

Probably I will buy a USB PD charger sooner than I have planned.

it can charge albeit very slowly due to USB 3.0 standard which is 0.5A. The newer swift 3 has a TBT3 USB C port that can sync and fast charge to PD standard

i only uses ugreen power adapter and cables.

used Baseus cables before. spoilt within 6mths.

Supposedly a normal USB 3 port can provide 5V/900mA to a high power device.

Normal USB 3 Type C port is supposed to be able to deliver 5V/3A.

Then USB PD 3.0 enabled Type C port can deliver up to 20V/5A.

But I do not have any equipment to measure the real world charging current.
