It's more logical for me to say, I block you so you cannot further harass me.

and because you cannot further harass me, you are crying victim for censorship..
Dude, not being able to view posts and not being able to post are two different things.

What makes you think just because your posts are hidden that trolls will stop targeting you?

Just continue to post lo. They don't give a shyt. So a troll can't see the contents of your threads/comments if you blocked him, no problem! Just continue riling you up lo.

Unless there is a very strict rule based algorithm on what constitutes "nuisance" before the block function will be effective, it can just be used as a tool to silence opposing views.

If you posts "grapes are sour" and I cannot see it, I cannot reply "not all grapes are sour".
You effectively silenced my view in order to propagate yours.

:)

Even if I blocked you, there are other healthy-track-record users who are not blocked will be able to judge whether the grapes are sour not.

Until you block those people.
Then you will only have people who agree with you that grapes are sour.

:)

Already mentioned earlier, if the user blocked 100% of users, it's the thread for himself, it's his preference...

The question should be why you want to go in so much?

why? personal vendetta?

No. It is not your preference.
Because if you posts something like "fox1 likes touching people on the train", I want to be able to see it and respond to it.

sagu point that the moment your "other healthy-track-record users" judged otherwise, their views will be censored, a.k.a. blocked and isn't this censorship ? :s22:

#saguwisdom :vijayadmin:

Till dat moment comes...leta not be too quick to judge...

My take is extreme troll n nuisance..for eg. sagu n ksi ( dont worry im sure u guys have yr own fans or those in btn fence kind ) will have d honor of high percentage blockage...
I dont tink ppl will just block another user for small little disagreement...
I for 1 will nvr block u guys..including fox1...
But i cant say so for midnightpapa...high chance i will block him...

There are already plenty of ppl living in their own bubbles, if not glass walls, here.... Right now this suggestion is just to make those bubbles opaque...

Less of an annoyance to all.

I don't see how this is going to help solve anything.

"Ignore" is for you not to see posts by "XYZ" because you don't like to see/hear anything from him. It's a personal choice in terms of how you want to read the forum. Treat it like a user preference option of the forum view.

"Block" is different as you don't want "XYZ" to see your posts. That doesn't stop his friends to see it or his silent clone account or when viewing the thread without logging in. There is already a lot of fragmentation in terms of what people choose to read selectively; this new options makes things worse - for everyone. It does not help improve the context/awareness of the related problem. You are only silo-ing it to the point of uselessness.

This begs the question what sort of stuff you post or trouble you get into that you don't want someone else to see what you post. To me, the resolution is either you live with the given circumstances, someone backs down, or someone has to be infracted/banned/leave the forum.

blocking helps with e nuisance/trolling issues prevalent in this forum where some ppl r often singled out n hated on intensely often without any help. can't say I'm surprised by yr reply though. not everyone is comfortable with changing e status quo even when it is e right thing to do. ah well...

We would love to minimize those issues too.

Having said that, if Person A & B each don't know that they are being backstabbed about (just an example) since each have decided to block each other, but everyone else sees the respective posts and discuss further, it's not long before A & B find out what's happening and we're back to square one.

if u put it this way any type of measure also won't help since nothing will eliminate e problem 100% anyway :s22:
