Teacher if have integrity should say I support this charity like WP and PSP fund.
Please donate to them instead of giving me gifts

Or you can donate to a charity of your choosing

you mean public servant cannot receive birthday gift anymore?
cannot, if there are linked to same project/or conflict of interest Because corruption always use his guise to bypass the law, the law not stoopid u know, this is how it always starts. Birthday lah, xmas lah. mooncake lah

if u are minister of agriculture than u are in trouble.
That's why Singapore is shite
In US etc the media and tabloids will investigate

Who is "farmer"
How he knows Amy?
If he's real farmer, definitely he's regulated by government
Can you connect this to Amy?

Or even worse, did he know her cos she's MP?
And oh.... maybe her ward buys his produce or he got contract with them. Ho ho ho

I don't understand the mentality of people here

If it's gift from family , of course need not declare

If it's gift from Ong and you're handling F1, of course tell your HR or whoever is in charge whether must declare

Make sure EVERYONE in building knows and they apply policy and you don't interfere
So obvious.

If they say cannot accept then reject it

https://www.psd.gov.sg/declaration-...y-civil-servants-and-political-officeholders/

1. Civil servants and political officeholders must not ask for gifts or favours, especially when they are in a position to influence or affect any decision involving the other party. If it is not possible or it is impractical to decline gifts or meals, officers should declare and account for it according to established processes.

2. For gifts that are less than $50, the officer may be allowed to retain the gift without payment after taking into account considerations such as conflict of interest. For gifts that are $50 or more, an officer may be allowed to retain the gift if he pays its value to the government.

Accept gift cannot but ask for discount can. Like someone bought some atas condo at discount from developer bo taichi. If I am Iswaran I just PayNow a token sum to OBS then maybe no need to end up like this. If want to charge me then I ask why people buy condo can discount but I buy F1 tickets cannot? And the condo discount is huge amount. 😂

the work done at the ministry also not him.

Minister --> dont do the work? at most ask qn
CEO --> DCEO --> Director --> DD --> Normal staff who is doing the work.

So actually no clash of interest? Shortlist companies for projects also not by iswaran. Maybe OBS thought iswaran helped him, which he doesnt.

If a teacher receive gift from personal friends, must declare?

I think iswarans case is where the gifts received must have helped the two givers to some extent(with f1 related), thus it’s illegal ?
Below $50 no need. Above $50 need to delcare for Civil Servants.
Government jobs this must delcare that must declare one
Even if you have investments also must declare, then also cannot have credit card debts more 3x of your monthly gross salary, if not have to declare
failure to declare will face disciplinary action when caught.

This is the down side of civil servant. this cannot that cannot, but iron rice bowl

Private sectors can do anything you want no need declare

I don't think it's rocket science.

At the end of the day Isw should have known better. He's holding one of the top positions in the land.

If in doubt just say no. Or else declare it.
Sometimes not that he don't know. if you do business, you simply can't refuse ppl give u as to show face. you reject, then next time he won't favour u deal. big businessman what is a treat to u, what is tickets to them.... at the end, they want you show face to them.

the same like you go drinking. ppl ask u drink, u drink right? show face mah

at least he dun take money

Disagree. There are very clear boundaries he shouldn't cross. He is a public servant who is paid with tax payers money. He is not running his own business like Elon Mask. BTW, even businessmen are pulled up by CPIB, like billionaire Ong.

No excuses.
