This isn't a review exactly but I've tried the X5. YMMV
When I tried it, it was on low gain, volume: 48
At this setting, the X5 sounded flat and raw to me. There was certainly something missing in the music, like it was lacking life too.
BUT
There were others who tried it on high gain and higher volumes who claimed the X5 came to life and sounded superb at volume: >50 and high gain. I haven't tried it at that volume, didn't occur to me and I'd be heading back to E1 to try again soon.![]()
Wait until its burnt in enough after being molested by lots of people then we go and try.
And I am kinda worried of using high grain on my iems. Maybe use with an impedance adapter?

imo volume is quite irrelevant, since it depends on the iem w.r.t your own listening level so you don't really have much "control" over it.
Try it at e1 with my old W4 and it sound fantastic.. borrow im02 from albert to try it and Whitney Houston come to life. =)
But at almost double the cost of X3, one has to think twice whether the improvement in sound quality is worthwhile.
initial impression comparing x5 with dx50....i am actually in love with x5![]()
where u stay?![]()
