You are talking about installation from scratch?

First create a bootable USB Drive loaded with the Linux Distro of your choice. (you need another machine to make the drive or someone to help you do it)
In your PC, configure BIOS to boot from USB and then plug in your Linux Thumbdrive.
follow the instructions once you boot into the Linux Distro. (I recommend POP OS for the least headache)

i use etcher but a lot swear by rufus.....

If I only have 1 usable PC with no OS, how can I install Linux os on it without any OS in the PC? Any idea?
Install Proxmox 9, then you install Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, Mint, Kali Linux. windows 11, apple OS15 sequoia as VMs on it. You can run 100 operating systems on it. Nest your OS upon OS

Oh wait. You just want to run OS right? Not to do anything useful correct?

Yes, installing from scratch.

I only have 1 brand new custom PC. No OS on it. I want to install Linux on it but I haven't downloaded it.

I have a work laptop but it's locked down tight by corporate policy so I can't stick a USB stick in it.

So any other options to create that bootable USB drive? My own custom PC is not setup yet so I can't download Linux nor create the bootable stick on it.

I have an Apple phone so I don't know if I can download the Linux file or create a USB stick from it...

That's not my issue...

So many things to tinker with in those early days...
Lilo for dual boot and not just into one Linux kernel version but many different compiled versions of Linux kernel for testing.

that time corrupting boot is not a uncommon thing. most folks use floppy or siaolang like me use loadlin to boot from dos....

the fun thing about installing linux then is the 10001 check box u have no idea what they mean......

Then I think Proxmox 9 is great for you. You can install all kinds of OS, there is no limitation. I7-11700 got 8 cores/16 threads, some Ryzen CPUs even more.

If you are in cyber security, you can spin up Kali on this machine to do pen testing or run Pfsense Suricata/Snort alongside. Spin up a Windows VM too while you are at it, have NGINX to run a reverse proxy to your home network or webserver etc

Proxmox 9 can download into a 16gb USB drive. It will install automatically like any OS

I don't have Android phone... Only apple phone...
find friend with pc and borrow to create usb boot drive

if not, one possible workaround is to buy a Raspberry Pi, they also sell pre-loaded microSD with Raspberry Pi OS, so should be "plug and play"

then u can use the raspberry pi to create a usb boot drive [u may need to research to see if the steps are easy enough]

If the Linux system is capable of playing modern AAA games, it means it is a system capable enough to run virtual machines

use MS office in a virtual machine environment
If I need to operate primarily in the windows environment eg office, teams, one drive, etc why do I use via vm? Ill just use win11 direct. If of course youre just the occasional user, sure, of course.
