Overkill in rads.

I'm going for 4 x 480 rads for a few reason 1)because the case can hold it 2)because with 4 x 480 I will have enough airflow without single fans, I want to keep the front of the case fanless and clean 3)because the case can hold it ;)

damn... 480*4 rad... going for how many loops?

I'm going for 2 loops of 2 rads each.

480x4 sounds logic when ts mention he dun intend to use lotsa fans..its always good to have more head room then just enou when comes to rads n psu etc...imho of cos as im running 3 480s 2 loop 2 d5 n a 1300 psu overkill as well but plenty of headroom.

Anyone know if I can i get 5.1 or 7.1 channel sound if I have normal headphones (AKG K712pro) and a sound card like the Asus Xonar, or do I need specific 7.1 gaming headphones?

In that case, do you think its worth getting a sound card if i'm going to run a dac like the Meridian Explorer with my AKGs? The Rampage V has optical S/PDIF out which the meridian dac can use.

No. Just use usb to bypass the internal built in sound chip.

You can only get virtual surround with the k712. I'd rather you go with Sound blaster Z series than Xonar since its for gaming and movies.

Other recommendations for headphones of that price range are Sennheiser HD 598/650, Beyerdynamic DT770Pro/880/990 and the Hifiman HE 400. All of which, IMHO, is better than the K712 and costs around there.

If you wanna go for external DAC + amp, I'd rather you get a Fiio e17 or Objective O2, or even an Audinst MX1/2. All of which are USB Audio interfaces.

If you really want to have an extreme rig. I dont think it is a good idea to go for 4gb VRAM options and also a tri 1080p monitor only. Best to go for something more harder to drive and deserves to be in extreme setup components.

Such as tri 1440p display. And you wont need 2 x Samsung SSD to run at RAID 0 causing risk on your OS partition. Even if it is fast, you cant tell the difference. If you really want 2, it is better to run on RAID 1 instead to make sure there is a back up. At least you will know that if 1 is dead, your PC is still alive and running.

My recommendations:

ASUS X99 Deluxe + i7-5930K ~ $1316
GSkills Ripjaws 4 3200mhz 4x4GB x2 (32gb) 16-16-16-36 - $1618
WD Purple 4tb x2 ~ $462 RAID 1
Samsung 850 1tb Pro x2 ~ $1990 RAID 1
Palit 6gb Titan Black x3 3 way SLI ~ $4275
Corsair AX1500i 1500W 80+ Titanium Fully Modular PSU ~ $592
Asus Internal 12x Blu-ray Writer (BW-12B1ST) ~ $169
Asus PG278Q 27inch TN Panel 144hz Gsync Monitor x3 ~ $3777

Total ~ $14199.

Does not include custom water cooling. Will see what you really need for custom WC and will post again.
