just went recently to Tokyo, two pax including air tix and hotel and food and shopping = $8k.

only 8 days.

Onigiri x 2 is pretty filling. Nowadays also hard to find $2.50 stuff usualy $3-4. One thing that is definitely more expensive in Japan is FRUIT. Fresh fruit, not those processed.

neighbourhood fruits stall in Tokyo I buy for 100yen each a big Apple, Cannot remember is Chiba or Saitama is 50yen each.

Not all tourist friendly I feel. Those less urban area may also pose a problem if you don't speak Japanese. Places like Gunma and Tottori... have nothing much to visit, just like most other Inaka in Japan. Maybe can save the exploring for other trips. First trip stick to the safer route... Just my thought lah.

End of the year I will also go for a 2 weeks Tohoku + Hakodate trip to cover places like Akita and Aomori. I wouldn't do that for my first trip though.
Actually that's the fun thing about Japan - to get lost.

I am more of a nature person, so countryside appeals more to me. We have been living in concrete jungle for so long.

Ok la. Went a bit of restaurant, ramen like ichiran.

Shop a lot. Eat a lot.

Sound like atas meal alot sio..

My 10D trip to Osaka, Kyoto, Kawaguchiko and Tokyo all in about $7.5k for 2..Came back with extra 5 pairs of shoes, Le Creuset stuff, Muji stuff..
