aft 2-3 months then oc. need season those chips first..![]()
Won't recommend OC...for 1.8k can easily get a 290 or gtx780 build instead
To get such a gd cpu n mobo along with a lousy gpu for gaming is quite dumb.... just drop to b85 la, den can get better gpu. Or get msi z87 g45 and 280x once u up budget.
That monitor is ex. For $219, s2340l is a ntter choice with similar specs. Try find WHOLE of sls for it. Dun believe whole sls dun hav de.
There is no such need to xfire for a 60hz 1080p monitor. U will only get tearing once it hits over 75+ fps or so. Jus get 280x And 600-650w psu will do.

And yes. I personally replied you that you should reconsider a b85 mobo instead. If you are not gonna oc the chip now and only do it in the future.
Also gaming nowadays do not need you to oc your cpu. Ot wont bring you any form of extra boost.
Spend more on a gpu instead. Your initial choice was fine. 280x. 270x wont last you if you really wanna enjoy good graphics.

just to add on from my trip to SLS/tradepac last Sunday:
gigabyte r9 280x seems to have restocks but price has increased by $50 to $509. tradepac does not seem to have stocks yet but if they increase by $50 like every other shop in SLS that's gonna be like $489?
FSP and Superflower PSU oos for months alr, tradepac boss say distro also dunno when have new shipment. might go for seasonic s12g 550w instead, since I guess I rather the costs savings over modularity.
MSI r9 280x in stock elsewhere in SLS, tradepac still no stock and it seems their price list puts it at 485 with bf4. (these amd cards price increases!!!) they also seem quite reluctant to give me discount off their price lists even though I'm getting almost a full system from them.

If you have no budget, pump the money in a gpu. Games are generally not CPU intensive- heck a CPU from 3 years ago (2600k) is still running neck to neck with the current gen CPU. Intel Core i7-4770K vs 3770K vs 2600K Gaming-Performance - CPUs - Reviews : ocaholic
In contrast spending money on a r9 290 instead of 280x will increase your frame rates more
Ever see a 580 or 6970 run neck to neck with a r9 290 or gtx 780? Never.
Spend a lot on CPU , is really no point.
But after researching more and more and getting advises, I just feel that by increasing my budget abit, I could get a better rig. Thats why lo.

r9 290 too expensive I think. I think r9 280 is better for me because I dont want to go over 2k.![]()
OC u need a decent cooler too, the problem is haswell is a little too hot in OCing
No problem with ppl that wan to try OCing , but it's not worth it if u only use for gaming and normal usage
Oc with asrock b85 killer wun give u same results as oc on z87. Summore u need a decent cooler like h100i or d14, which cost $100+ more.
Single gpu + oc cpu, 600-650w psu is enough.
Dual gpu + oc cpu, ard 850w is ideal.
Summore, b85 have a limitation of 8x 4x bandwidth for xfire. Most z87 hav 8x 8x at least.
Dude, point is take the budget you have for a k series CPU and board and pump into your r9 290
Heck if you want oc chips and boards, you can get 2nd hand in the forums for probably the same price as a new non k series chip
Note that if you are concerned with future proofing, a r9 280x is a rebranded 7970 boost edition, which is based on a 2 year old chip. At least a r9 290 is like only a few months old.

Revised for you. And fyi tech dynamic is trying to resupply their hx500 hx600. And the newer model is leadex gold. Leadex gold is fully modular.
And since they claim that giga is selling at $50 more. Then its only worth to go for 290 instead. Get from msi. Price may be high. But is worth it with bf4. You can even sell it if you do not need it.
