Fixed Deposit product itself is a problem by design.

you are putting capital in a product which gives you money with no inherent risk due to capital protection. This means someone have to cover the loss if something happen while trying to earn interest.

So of course bank won't give high interest. expecting high interest from FD is like expecting gahmen give us cash every month without raising taxes. bo ko leng one.

FED will be cutting rates at some point in time.

FD rates more likely fall below 2% within the next 1-2 years.

moi is staring at moi crystal ball now! Just need be sure moi crystal ball is securely plugged into the wall socket.

Have oredi taken large amt out from FD and ocbc 360

FD now all below 2%

ocbc can still yield 3% up to $100k with just salary credit and mthly $500 growth

Park a substantial sum in ssb, yielding a measly 2.2%... at least slightly better than FDs, which will drop further

also considering s-reits, which yields 4-6%... but not guranteed and got risks to capital

With the exception of the CPF.
