Had dinner at Coca steamboat at Takashimaya earlier. I chose the ala carte cos I had a $100 voucher and not applicable for buffet. Their buffet is $35++ for dinner and 20 something for lunch. Found their ingredients pretty fresh. Might go back 1 day for the steamboat.

Steamboat with tom yum soup. The soup was good. Had sooooo many bowls of it. Diddn't take pic of the ingredients sorry.

Crab with tang hoon... was good. crabs were of decent size, meat was good. $26.

Mango and gulitinous rice. $12.

Red ruby. $5.50. Nice. Had pieces of jackfruit in it too.

Desserts were pretty exp... but I had a voucher so not too bad. :p

the main courses!!

oven baked thread fin with green vegetables, parsley coulis and tomato vinalgrette...

red wine braised beef cheeks, carrots, mushrooms and parsley potatoes... the last time we went i ate that... the beef cheeks are soooooooooo tender and flavourful..... despite that i wanted to try something different this time...

"forty garlic cloves" oven roasted chicken served with mashed potatoes, melted onions... i had this for my main... it's one whole piece of chicken drumstick that is SOOOOO tender and smooth that the even more tender skin simply slides off the meat.... and the mashed potatoes is one of the best i've eaten... it's good even on it's own w/o the sauce...

desserts...

homemade strawberry shortcake, raspberry coulis... it's nice and not too sweet...

i dunno wat's the name of this dessert... cos they replaced another chocolate dessert on the menu with this... but well simply... one of it is vanilla ice-cream and the other is choc cake... i was told the choc cake is using 70% dark choc... but it tastes more like 50% dark to me... was expecting it to be only slightly sweet and more bitter... but it was half-half...

overall the desserts are good but not fantastic... but the highlights would be the beef cheeks and chicken mains... the fish main dish is so-so only too...

no budget... but don't too exp like $100/pax la ;/

Crystal Jade (Taka) or Lei Garden (Chijmes) are the usual choices...

I quite like Wah Lok at Carlton too...

Chef Chan at Asian Civilisation is also quite good - should be under S$100/pax too
