Better US Markit Numbers Spike the US Dollar: DXY, Gold, USD/JPY
November 24, 2020

On a daily timeframe, the DXY has tried many times to close under the upward sloping trendline (green) dating back to 2011 near 92.20 yet has failed to do it. Today’s price action shows another attempt, but it has failed to do so.

Joe Biden poised to pick Janet Yellen as Treasury secretary

Assuming she is confirmed by the Senate, Ms Yellen will be the first woman to serve as Treasury secretary in the institution’s 231-year-old history. She will take over from Steven Mnuchin, Donald Trump’s Treasury secretary, with the difficult mission of jolting the US recovery with billions of dollars of new stimulus called for by Mr Biden, while keeping financial markets stable.

Those efforts are likely to involve painstaking negotiations with Capitol Hill, given Republican resistance to large-scale spending increases, and a close relationship with Jay Powell, the Fed chairman, particularly since Mr Mnuchin recently moved to wind down several emergency lending facilities at the central bank that have been crucial to its crisis response.

NZDUSD surpasses 70 cents as the uptrend continues
November 25, 2020 5:23 AM

The US Dollar was bearish against all of its major pairs on Tuesday. On the US economic data front, the Conference Board's Consumer Confidence Index fell to 96.1 on month in November (98.0 expected), from a revised 101.4 in October.

NZDUSD broke above our first resistance target as the pair continues its uptrend. On a daily chart, look for the 20-day moving average to act as support. The next major levels to watch on the upside are 0.7065 and 0.7150.

EURUSD Breakout
December 2, 2020 5:36 AM

Tuesday's largest gainer was the EURUSD which rallied 146 pips. From a technical perspective, the pair broke above a consolidation in place since July. As long as 1.20 acts as support, look for a continuation of the uptrend towards our next target resistance level of 1.2265 and 1.2415 in extension. A break below 1.20 could pressure the pair back into a consolidation.

There are a few reasons why the greenback could slip against a basket of currencies. Firstly, America imports more than it exports. Hence, the massive trade deficit that the US reports every month is unlikely to change anytime soon.

American consumers have a massive appetite for those cheaper made-in-Asia goods. These items are paid for in US dollars, which swells the global marketplace with pools of greenback that in turn could depress the currency.
4yrs unker DT still cannot reduce deficit?:s22:
