I’m starting this thread, because some of the old ones all got edmw verify-walled. Cant see a thing.

background, I ate 3 HKM for the last 24h. All I feel not good enuf. Even my usual Favourite Chuan HKM didn’t do well today.

any suggestions? I like it wet, moist, packed with wok hei. Rich zhup.
My other GO is Swee guan. But I gradually find his hkm overly cooked, a bit too nuah for my liking.

possible to cook at home hkm. but to taste like good hawker ones, it has to be just as unhealthy.

I tried Chuan HKM $9 a few months back.
Can say that it is above average.
Did not disappoint me but also did not stun me.

I guess every one have their holy grail for HKM.
Hope you can nail it one day and share with us.
I also want to find out as long as it is not in the Far West.

i tried ah jie and visit them whenever i have crave for hkm since
wet, savoury, wok hei, chilli with heat, all on point for my taste
kinda impressive seeing they look pretty young (20-30s?)

This is also the one I frequent the most (since it is relatively near my place ). I like their kind of thick zhup consistency, especially after it soaks in for tabao. The wok hei is very good, smoky even. Everything about the taste is just... rich. That's why I only have it once in a while, because jelak. But their chilli works well to cut through that, if you can handle the heat (VERY spicy). For me, a tiny dollop is enough to liven up the HKM.
