I am using a 'rock' casing from one of the shops next to Adix's. (didn't know he doesn't open on Sundays). It is translucent for the back... but got a flip cover in front. I got the orange one so, it is orange color all around.

I want to ask...
Does any one feel the battery drain is fast? I just take a short trip MRT reading the ST Forum letters, and can drop 7-8% le.

Overnight also drop a few percent, and without root, it doesn't allow 3rd party apps like timeriffic to toggle airplane mode...

My gripe is the wakelock for torchlight. It seems to be keeping the phone awake all the time. From the betterbatterystats, my phone doesn't go into deepsleep at all! I switch off the torchlight function, and still it still keeps the wakelock on... got any solution? or is this not a battery drain?

where do u see this wakelock for torchlight? the torchlight is the one that comes with the phone under settings -> my device?

I've checker with the Samsung sales assistant (a young looking one), he said its covered by warranty and the flaps won't become loose easily. Not sure if it's credible.

As mentioned, I am using betterbatterystats (its an app) to see. Anyway, I think after switching it off, plus restarting the phone, the wakelock is finally gone.

p.s yes, that torchlight in the settings where you can activate the light using the vol up button is the culprit.

Warranty doesn't cover water damage period. It's been mentioned that its weird that a phone that is marketed as water proof / resistant, doesn't have any special clause that deals with water damage. Instead, it's like all the other phones...:s22:

Erm, i think the water damage is covered under the warranty provided it is due to sealing defect. User-caused water damage such as inappropriate closure of back cover is not covered though.

Similar to xperia Z series.

I can point you to the phrase in the user manual. s4 active user manual, section 12.
This Limited Warranty does not cover: (a) defects or damage resulting from accident, misuse, abnormal use, abnormal conditions, improper storage, exposure to liquid, moisture, dampness, sand or dirt, neglect, or unusual physical, electrical or electromechanical stress;

Now your turn. Show me something that mentions the 'sealing defect' portion. Show me that if I 'seal' the phone correctly, and it got damaged regardless, I am covered.

You need an info, you find it out yourself.

Why do I have to convince and proof to you when the burden of proof is on you?

If you cross reference to the terms for sony, it is exactly the same indicating no warranty coverage when exposing the device to liquid.

Refer to the first clause that reads the device is covered by 1 year warranty for manufacturing defect.

Does "poor sealing" falls within manufacturing defect?

What does it show when the device is liquid damaged yet it passes the pressure test?

What does it show if the device failed the pressure test?

Testing methodology for both companies may be different, but how different can both be?

Perhaps you should spare a little logic instead of lifting the words literally.

because I already had proof? and you haven't?

Look, what I said isn't new stuff. Many tech news site which reported the launch of S4 active mentions the LACK of coverage by water damage. What I have lifted from the user manual, was actually pointed out by one of these sites. The advice consequently given by sites, is to not try too hard to test the water resistant qualities of the S4 active.

You want to be different and say the opposite (to the publicised opinion), I would have to say the burden of proof is on you.

btw, in a more recent article Samsung says it will improve the warranty condition for s4 active. If everything was fine as it is, why the need for improvement?

p.s don't hold your breath that it may apply to Singapore though. This kind of things depend on the power of consumers, and in Singapore, we are weak. Just look at CASE.

the flap is made of plastic, likely it will be loose after some time, just don't how long...

one of my previous phone has similar flap, broke off after warranty, think around 2yrs usage...

so some people are looking for wireless inductive charging...no more opening flap...:)

somehow samsung doesn't promo this phone after releasing here...
no sure is it they realize water issue due to design or prolong usage... especially after ppl make noise in US.

similar to sony, not much talk on xperia z waterproof after ppl start making noise on water damage...

I think they may still provide some warranty if really water damage, but on condition like replace/service one time only...
they may not announce publicly to avoid too many cases...so good luck!

if any bro here got repair/replacement due to water damage, pls report here!!! :D

Its ok if warranty is not honoured due to user's negligence.

However warranty dishonoured due to defect is unacceptable.

I wonder how many s4 active users really pay attention to pushing the back cover under the camera to ensure tight seal?

Anyone knows if there's a live demo unit of S4 Active anywhere? Even the big Samsung Store in Vivo doesn't have one when I went there.
