CAN IMMERSE OR NOT?

Hi everyone,

Just got a Orange S4 Active from M1, renew another 2 year contract. This is for my daughter.

S4A looks really cool, more chio than my NOTE3.

Earlier this afternoon, the M1 staff advised that S4A is NOT like Sony Xperia V or Z, where you can immersed under water to take pictures.
Yet, I have seen Samsung advertisement that they took pictures under water using S4A. And I also noticed that there isn't any cap for the headphone jack.

So I am a little confused. Not that I am looking forward to dip the phone under water but officially what is the stand here?

The headphone jack does not need to be covered to be underwater. It is designed to withstand water. The S4A has IP67 rating. Ingress Protection Rating 67. digit 7 means the device can go under water under 30mins and above 1m. Which means you can go into swimming pool to take photos but not over the 1m mark. JUst like those sony devices

In fact S4A water resistant level should be same as Sony V and Z. And they all advertise phone can withstand water under 1m for 30mins.
BUT both Samsung and Sony all claim warranty does not cover water damage...so it is up to you whether want to use the phone in water.

And I believe those real local S4A users don't really use this phone in water(including myself), so it's up to you to believe the comments here...;)

Here is a video that show S4A in water...

The S4 Active has an Aqua Mode in the camera app, so it lets u take photos underwater. But under 1m.

But you still have to take care of your phone well, make sure the doors are completely sealed. There are cases water slipped in.

Is there a Android 4.3 update for this phone soon?

still no 4.3 for S4A...
even though S4 and S4 mini has long get it
and now S3 and Note 2 also get it too !!:s11:

anyway, I don't mind S4A skip 4.3 and go directly to 4.4...:D

last week I update to dec 2013 ver 4.2.2 via OTA and realised it solved some music player and NFC issues.
Battery also improve when on standby/sleep

this ota 4.2.2 update introduces the annoying white pop up box that will alert you to seal the charging cover every time you unplug the charger.

probably it's trying to emphasize to you it's water resistant...:s13:

anyway, a touch and the pop up box is gone
I can live with it...
