I bought a TPU case from Y2K accessories @Rochor Centre for $8. Cheap & gd all round coverage. Various colours to choose from. Grip is very good as well.

Does this this TPU case has 2 buttons at the volume rocker instead of 1??
I think it is bad design causing the volume accidentally going up or down...
hard to use volume rocker as camera button too...

The case has 2 buttons but the volume buttons are not easily pressed at all even with case on

I think I bought the same but from AMK at $12 (online webby, cheapest is about $2 but I had no choice since I didn't want to risk scratching it by waiting for the case to come if I order online)

I faced the same problem initially, afterwhich I used a pen knife to cut out the volume part and now I have no problem at all.

Loving my S4 Active.

i was also comtemplating between the 2 for 2 weeks+. Kept going down to the Samsung Experience centers to compare.

Went for the S4 in the end after research:

1. Better dev support, less likely to get pwned by lack of manufacturer updates

2. Improved AMOLED brightness on S4 compared to previous generation AMOLED make it comparable to LCD (IMHO)

3. Theoretically better battery life

4. S4 can also survive a drop in water (check youtube), enough for me, dont need the waterproof feature (dont intend to use in pool)

5. Lack of cases

the main reason why i choose active is not the water proof thing
i juz wan the buttons only :s13:
i use s2 and s3 before and i can tell u it can be quite irritating when u accidentally touch the "back" button

i cant decide is due to s4 camera and screen
so its either cam+ screen or buttons :o

I handled the Active at Samsung Chinatown Point (not sure where else have, searched many Samsung Experience Stores) and I feel that the photos from both S4 and Active seems to be pretty good quality, can't really see the difference except for dual shot mode (gimmicky)

Additionally the LCD screen really is quite fantastic too (really boils down to personal preference between AMOLED or LCD)

For the physical buttons, after handling I felt that after using capacitive buttons for a long time, felt like couldn't get used to it. However, the mechanical buttons are top notch as well.

great minds think alike :s13:
I like the buttons too...you can say I am old school

You can compare both sets side by side at Causeway point Samsung experience stores.

For screen, you should be able to see quite significant color different between the same photo in both their Gallery...but preference is subjective

There is also a demo set at Bugis Samsung

checked carefully yesterday...outside casing it is 2 buttons, but at inside, it is just 1 single button.

I realize the inside button is too shallow. As S4 Active volume rocker is quite protrude out, so likely the whole button is half pressed when case is on. So any pressure on the side may cause,
- whole button fully pressed so volume adjust not working.
- Or any part of the button fully pressed, and volume adjust go haywire.

Anyone knows if the Active has the same auto-wake flip case function as the normal S4?

There are cases from Baseus that claim to be able to do this, but googled everywhere and there's no mention of the Active having this function.

S4 Active is Certified Waterproof and Dust proof phone (IP67)
Xperia Z is Certified Waterproof and Dust resistant phone (IP57)

just learn today that IP is Ingress Protection Rating, also interpreted as International Protection Rating

and IP67 should be water resistant and dust resistant, not really waterproof or dust proof...:s22:

anyone has his/her S4 Active test the water??

All Google apps does that... If you don't use cloud music.. You can log out of your Google account for music. Then should not sync and come up.. ButI doubt it drains much compared to Facebook.

Display set at 313 Samsung shop..
