S4 Active is Certified Waterproof and Dust proof phone (IP67)
Xperia Z is Certified Waterproof and Dust resistant phone (IP57)
curious...

so higher the rating is good?

water proof/water resistant...

which one more....safe?

Anyone knows if the Active has the same auto-wake flip case function as the normal S4?

There are cases from Baseus that claim to be able to do this, but googled everywhere and there's no mention of the Active having this function.

just use alternative apps like smart cover.

It is actually not a very good for waterproof purpose

actually I find what she say is quite subjective
I doubt she actually test the phone in water...just read and talk only....

but it is true quite many AT&T users complain their S4 Active damage by water...just like there is also Z users feedback water damage in Singapore :s8:

I am not surprise some of the case may be due to users misunderstanding or misuse that cause water damage.

something interesting I read from AT&T Active users is some of them didn't hear or feel a 'pop' sound when they press below the LED flash to fully seal the back cover. This is quite important to make the phone water resistant.

I am not sure is it AT&T batch got problem or what..... because, every time I press, I can feel or hear it.

I believed she have done all the water testing. If you have watched her other videos, you will notice she gave super in-death review and did water testing on other devices.
Even if you managed to block all the water from active, I think the headphone jack problem is more annoying than anything else.
I have noticed xperia z users report of water damage as well. My conclusion is never think the phone as waterproof, just take it as it's water resistant. Never be surprise when samsung refuse to repair your phone due to water damage.

Have been using S4A for a month.

Speed is fast and smooth, don't feel lag for what I use so far.
It makes Singtel 3G and occasionally 4G become very obvious bottleneck in usage. With good 4G signal, surfing is very Shiok outside! :D

Coming from AMOLED phone, I find the LCD screen very good so far. Surprisingly I don't miss AMOLED at all. Reading under sun so far so good, I usually set brightness level around 30-40%

Battery ok for my usage. It can last till end of day with probably 10% left on high usage day with lot of messaging, surfing, checking email, FB, calls. On low usage day, can easily hit 2 days plus. So far never use power saving mode, on 4G most of time and usually turn on WIFI and off mobile data when at home....

Camera is good for outdoor shot. But indoor shot is no good imo, guess that is typical phone cam, can't expect much. Have not try night shot so far... but don't think it will be good.

Love and hate the physical buttons, still getting use to it... the feel is good, use the Home button most and very happy with it. Sometime the Back button gives me problem, can accidentally touch the screen when pressing Back button. Either that button is too narrow or my thumb too fat, this usually happen when I use single hand. Using both hands is normally ok. The other cause is because I using TPU case cover which has bulge/hump at the border of the screen. This make pressing the Back button difficult...guess have to change case or take time getting use to it.

Variety of SP and casing for S4A are limited in local shops. Lucky I am not so particular about casing. Anyway still manage to get SP applied with case in less than 30mins after getting the phone

So far never test water yet, anyway that is not my intention of getting this phone. More important is the dust resistant...my previous phone got dust into screen, after changing screen still the same. Don't think I will bath with phone or walk in rain making call...guess I will be more scare of rain and thunder though S4A is water resistant :s13:

I am using a 'rock' casing from one of the shops next to Adix's. (didn't know he doesn't open on Sundays). It is translucent for the back... but got a flip cover in front. I got the orange one so, it is orange color all around.

I want to ask...
Does any one feel the battery drain is fast? I just take a short trip MRT reading the ST Forum letters, and can drop 7-8% le.

Overnight also drop a few percent, and without root, it doesn't allow 3rd party apps like timeriffic to toggle airplane mode...

My gripe is the wakelock for torchlight. It seems to be keeping the phone awake all the time. From the betterbatterystats, my phone doesn't go into deepsleep at all! I switch off the torchlight function, and still it still keeps the wakelock on... got any solution? or is this not a battery drain?

Hi, anybody knows if there's transparent casing for the S4 Active?

think I saw 1 clear crystal hard case(or TPU) in one of the phone stall at TPY
when facing library, it should be on left side row...
most of those stalls don't have S4A case, this guy fished out from a black plastic bag to show me when I asked...but never take it

battery drain on MRT depends whether signal is good or bad as it tries to stream/download contents. can be bad underground or different timing of the day, I usually find peak hrs very bad.

overnight I think mine drop +/-1% per hr...which I think is quite good.

not sure about timeriffic or wakelock...you may want to un-install them and try 1 by 1 to find out the culprit... :)
