Game freezes

Im having freezes on games such as stalker 2, wukong, older games like ac origins, rdr2 n some others.. How do i check for the causes or wat shud i look out for? I'm on 13600k with 7900xtx playing on 2k monitor. Giga Z790 aorus elite ax n ripjaws 32gb ram. Xmp enabled. No mods on mentioned games. It was all ok b4. Smooth gameplay. Kind of annoyed knowing dat dis hardware pairing doesn't have any issues playing on 2k or 4k. MB bios is the latest. Andrenalin settings is default. Really need a solution as it's only been 1-2 years with this setup/build. This will be an ongoing thread until it's solve.

monitor clockspeeds and cpu/gpu utilisation when playing. Check temperatures.

Do you overclock/undervolt your cpu or gpu? If so change back to default first.

No.. Dare not to adjust anything.. Leaving them as is besides enabling xmp. The pic below are readings from my bios. The bottom half all are set to auto by default

Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU)​

to completely uninstall AMD/NVIDIA graphics card drivers

Yeah , DDU and remove all traces of drivers and its settings in windows safe mode. Then install new drivers.

You should also check windows settings for graphics and power management in case, certain settings got reset to wrong values due to energy saving or whatever. E.g System>Display>Advanced display -> refresh rate set to 60, but monitor is 360 hz. System>Display>Graphics>Default Graphics settings for HW scheduling, VRR, etc. Another system setting is the core isolation under windows security>device security.

3rd party apps, namely screen overlays/recordings/etc or mouse polling (use only 1k , no those fancy useless cpu draining 8k) or a really aggressive anti-virus/malware.... Don't use them. You should track whatever new stuff you install or getting updated so can pinpoint faster the offending apps.

Bad ssd or hdd, do a check on them. Don't use usb drives to play games if you do so.

Kindly list all your haedwrres and brand of your build for members to see if your setup is causing the problem. And what did you do before games start to freeze ? Does the problem exist since you build this computer ?

MOBO - Giga Z790 AORUS Elite AX
RAM - G Skill Ripjaws 32GB 6000mHz
GPU - Sapphire 7900XTX
CASE - Lancool 216
PSU - ROG Strix 850w
2X 140 Lian Li fans top n bottom

Monitor gpu temps when gaming? Case airflow is often overlooked. Case fans only on top and bottom? How is it setup? Bottom airflow is very limited and is bad if it's the only intake, it's only for directing air towards gpu provided air is intake from front. Top intake won't bring cool air to gpu.

Just to update, i got no issue playing emulator games. For pc games, fallout 4 no freezes but ctd due to mods.. Far cry 6 no issue for now.. Will test my other games wen got time.

For the fans, 2 top is exhaust n 2 bottom is intake. So total 4 intake n 3 exhaust including fans in the case.

So not all games freeze, then it's amd gpu driver and games issue. You want to give this driver a chance ? >

The intel degredation issue mostly happens in Unreal Engine games, if it doesn't crash there then it probably isnt that

In the pics, your temps looks fine and clockspeed looks right.

1. Did you have any previous GPU that was used on this system before? If you did, enter safe mode w/o networking and use DDU to uninstall drivers, then reinstall AMD adrenalin drivers
2. Did you install amd adrenalin drivers/software when setting up for the first time

Add on frame time graph will be good for your future monitoring too.
