Hi,

i am building a computer for the first time and i need some advice on this build that i have gathered from the internet:

Phanteks Enthoo Pro
Core i7-6700K
Asus z170 Pro Gaming
Corsair Vengance LPX 2666mhz 2x8GB
Samsung 850 evo m2 250GB SSD
WD Black 1TB
Zotac GTX1070 Amp! Extreme
CoolerMaster V850 PSU
Corsair 115i AiO Liquid Cooler
Corsair SP140 x2 (for liquid cooler)
Corsair AF140 x4 ( 1xEAF 3xFAF )

i will be mostly be using this for gaming( 4k if possible) and 4K movies with plans to overclock + possible future SLI, budget $25xx.

May i know if this build will work for what i want to use it for?

Thanks in advance!

does it work well for at least 1440p? does overclocking help?

Yes for first question

No for second...

Overclocking CPU doesn't really give you greatly noticeable performance increase in games. Most of us do it for fun and to push benchmark scores higher.

For a gamer, I will focus on getting the best single card GPU I am willing or able to pay :s13:

Oc cpu does gives more frames. Tested out on 2 games such as overwatch and cs go. Certain games are more cpu bound such as cs go_Overwatch frame rates also boosted more than 20 fps after i oc.

Thanks for recommending 1080 to me but is the $300 really worth it? I would need to sacrifice alot of the other components to afford a 1080 within budget

The words "4k gaming" and "budget" somewhat doesn't match.

another way around it is to change your cpu to a i5 6600k and change a case that is cheaper =:p

Hmmm my suggestion (if want i7 + overclock + 1080)

i7-6700K + MSI Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon @ 784
2x8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-2400 @ 130
Zotac 240GB SSD @ 99
WD Blue 1TB @74
Palit GTX1080 Super Jetstream @988
Seasonic M12-II Modular 850W @165
Phanteks Enthoo Eclipse @129
Cryorig A40 @179

Total 2548

All from PC themes pricelist

With this you are pretty much well covered in all fronts :s22:

I elaborate on my choice
i7-6700k since your budget can fit (though i5-6500 is enough :s22:)
MSI Gaming Pro Carbon supports SLI/Crossfire, RGB lighting for total control
Corsair LPX for color matching though frankly speaking normal RAM good enough liao :s22:
Zotac SSD cause really good value for money
WD Blue cause not much difference from black
Palit GTX1080 cause cheapest 1080 I found + looks good in black and white + fans won't run on light tasks which makes it silent
Seasonic 850W if you want SLI :s22:
Phanteks Eclipse P400 cause I think it is one of the best cases at its price
Cryorig A40 cause your case can fit + good value liquid cooler at its price

No need any extra fluff, you have 4 fans (2 from casing, 2 from cooler) + liquid cooling + RGB lighting + overclocking + nice casing with nice lights + GTX1080 + nice colored RAM

Your rig is good for a black/white theme :s12:
