Hi there, after giving much thought on the pros and cons of either gaming platform, I have decided to hold off my pre-ordrer for ps4 and save more cash to get a decent gaming pc. Btw do pc's have wireless gaming controller? Sick of using wired controller haha. And Roy mentioned that with a 900 dollar set up I can run battlefield 4 at ultra settings and I guess the 1.5k rig can too so what's the advantage of the 1.5k rig over the 900 dollar gaming pc? Thnx all for your kind inputs

For 1.5K you can get a SSD ($120 for 120GB) which is a super fast HDD that can boot up your windows in less than 10 seconds & all your programs in less than 2 seconds. The rest of the remaining cash can go towards a decent gaming keyboard/mouse/speakers & monitor.

if the purpose just play game, go for PS4 ... buy it and practically you no need to UPGRADE! unless it spoil after one year...

buy PC, on the long run will be more expensive due to keep on upgrading whether you "need" or you "want" cos kena poison etc... not to mention decent high performance graphic card cost you $400-500 (thats just the graphic card only)

as for the game, PS4 game, after play can just resale it, if its still quite new, resale value is there.... PC game abit more difficult... cos those who wanna buy resale game due to wanna save $ might just go for ahem game.....

but if you multitask, then PC will be better. so back to your usage pattern.

I don't have access to my home's TV as my parents is using it most of the time. Console on monitor might as well get pc......

Pc ahem games are more accessible. Though I will still spend to get online features such as bf3 and gw2. Another thing is I like to play games like multiplayer fps or dota with music so pc is easier to use for me.

I suggest you go for PC. PC games got more discount (steam sales, humble bundle etc). Up your budget a little, maybe to 1.2k you will get a pretty decent gaming PC.

Pc games are still much cheaper than consoles.

Let me do a breakdown cost.

Consoles usually have a facelift model after a year launch. Like ps2 ps2 slim. Ps3 ps3 slim and the 3rd gen ps3. Lasting about 2-3years plus before the next console launch. Lets just say you buy a ps4 at launch $638. The games you played lets say new title cost you $79.90/pre order $69.90.

1 year down the road it is still expensive than pc. Have you seen digital downloads for games in humble bundle that just cost $6 for 6-7 different old gaming titles? And you got tons of games to enjoy. Rather than ps3 or 4 games that cost you even more even if it is a clearance sales.

Pc digital downloads are between $50-$70 max for new downloads. Yes the pc itself is expensive at the initial build. Prolly around $1.5k. Gpu can last till 3 years before It ran out of horsepower. And your cpu is pretty much able to handle it for a year more. Which probably gonna cost you the most $350 on a mainstream gpu like gtx760 gtx670. And still can last you for the next 3 years.

Although yes I still own both consoles and pc. But pretty much I will only buy consoles if the games that I want to play is on console only. And nope I would not buy at launch. I rather buy it when my games are out.

Well, if you are going for gaming wise, it is wise go for a console such as soon to be release PS4 @ 639 .. No doubt it is on the expensive side for the console , however , treat it as a long term investment , as console normally do have a 7-8 years of lifespan before the new console took over. Likewise for the current PS3, it has reached the 7 years, yet most of the games are still playable on the PS3 whether you have the first version or the slim version. most properly, they will release games for PS3 as well for next year. I wont believe the console will spoilt that easily if you do take good care of the PS3 , ... cos my very first gen fat 60GB PS3 bought in 2006 is still going strong up to this date. PS3/PS4 can consider as a Home theatre system where it packed 3D, Blue-ray/DVD , 5.1 surround sound in your living room/bedroom.


Whereas , a gaming pc no doubt able to game at high setting or whatsoever reason, can it reached to such a long years WITHOUT upgrading any parts. I don think so. PC system are easily been phrase out fast with new technologies been launched every single year.

If I were to buy a pc, I'll have to buy the bf4 bundle plus extra a controller plus fifa 14 which would have cost nearly 900 dollars. And the launch games ain't that much. Thus I'm going for pc as I have much games which I have purchased from origin, steam and the humble bundle sale. Also I already have a controller (need to buy one more wireless controller). Also some of the functions that are available on the ps4 can't be used in sg so I find it a waste(Netflix, music streaming). As I'm still studying, I don't have that much cash on hand so I'll save up for now and most probably purchase the gaming pc next month. And if I were to purchase from tp or mynextcom or pc themes , will they assemble the rig for me and install the os? Thnx again for all inputs and I have really learnt a lot from all your replies

The good thing about pc gaming is flexibility. You don't have to own a 780ti to play crysis. Old gen gtx card still can run although not at the very high detail settings.

The onus is on the gamer if he is satisfied with the current rig there is no urgent need to upgrade.

On the other hand there are some console exclusive games that I can never find on pc. RDR, UFC, fight night, wwe, big little planet, etc are all missing.

If you want a 1.5k setup with everything and with tight budget. Go for tradepac and be stern with what you want from the list. Make sure be there to monitor them what they do.
