Hi all,

currently using the bellow specs for my PC to play Call Of Duty Black Op2
[medium setting] .
But system always super laggy with 1 window explorer (3-5tabs) in the backgrd whenever I alternate tab.

Any experts can advice what can I change to optimize the game play at minimum cost?
Izzit a good time to change an entire rig?

When you alt tab to windows and it takes ages to load windows it means you don't have enough ram. If you got 8gb ram it should instantly get back to windows when you alt tab.

Is either you change the whole com or a 2gb gfx card.

Imo, change whole com.

I suggest you to reformat c drive and have a fresh win installation. Your spec shouldn't have much lag when alt-tabbing.

At my friend place using his pc to surf hwz.

It was mistake getting Vista and 32bit intially juz to save cost =(

Anyway changing the entire com were be probably the last option, and considering I'm not the hardcore gamer type, the $$ juz nt justified.*Any particular brand that has a simple RMA process? Or any credible online merchant to get items like GPU/ram?Will my motherboard has problem supporting the newer rams or GPU eg. GtX760/R7970 available in the current market?

I have a gd suggestion for this:

1) Change to faster hdd, install Windows 8 (my modded type that restores back Windows 7 Start menu). This one i can do for u... if u want :D
2) Q9450 can OC really well without increasing alot of CPU voltage. We can do that too.
3) Change to faster graphics card.

I recommend for 7850 @ around $250 + Plextor M5S 128 GB SSD at around $130 @ Tradepac bah..

Then OC your CPU according to tamjinhang, adding perhaps a Xigmatec Gaia CPU cooler and your rig should last u maybe 2 years bah..

And yah.. Change your OS to 64 bit lah..

No it's not. If you're using the spec as you listed there, C2Q, 8gig ram and win7 64bit, you shouldn't experience major lag when alt-tabbing; and if you do, your win is having problem.

But if you're using win vista 32bit, then it's an another story. 32bit can use only 3 gig ram. More than half of you ram is wasted. Upgrade the OS first.

Agreed. Your rig seems decent, but I'm wondering who recommended you 8GB of ram when you're running Vista 32-bit. Anyway, just get 64-bit Win7 or 8 and probably a better graphics card and SSD. That setup would probably last you for quite a while.

His ram description a but confusing. So actually he only running on 4GB ram.

And TS system should show around 3.2GB of ram.

Unless.. you want to overhaul your rig.. if not then:

1. Change ur OS to 64bit - Win 7/8 is decent
2. C2Q 9450 is goooooooood!!.. Overclock it!
3. Change your GPU to 7850/GTX760/7950
4. Get a new SSD..
5. How old is your PSU ah? lol i recommend changing it.. just saying
6. Reformat everything / Clean install
7. ******* Pew!

My PC has lasted me 4years already, and on Zerotherm Nirvana Cooler since day1. Was thinking the possibility of overclocking, but probably has to read up more on that, since I have nuts knowledge.

Sorry for the confusion, currently is on 64bit Win Ulimate. But I've to buy a new copy of Windows if I were to change a new HDD (I don't have the original CD)

PSU shld be 4years old. Am afraid it might nt power the GTX670/760/7950
with the addition of a 3rd HDD & SSD only?
