somehow despite their reputation I do think SDP is wiser than all of them this time round, gotta give it to Dr Chee
Ya do rally. Better chances of addressing voters who can actually vote for SDP.

On that note props to Michael for pointing this out for WP contested wards too. Not everyone will have the opportunity to vote for WP or the opposition that aligns with their own thoughts.

Terrible, the whole mechanism of this roundtable is designed to help PAP
Honestly if the same format for Channel 8 on Tuesday, then I rather all the opposition parties don't attend better.

Watching CHT talk is so boring, keep reading from his iPad with all the motherhood statements. Time allocation is plain ridiculous.

Rather they spent more time doing rallies better

Absolutely. You can say whatever you want and we do not really care your one-sided perspective.

Cheers! ;)

I feel WP didn't really directly ask for a reduction of BTO supply, rather it seems more like it should be a mixture of new supply + reclaiming back existing flats through schemes to give a more well balanced localization; a mixture of new estates + mature estates to offer to new homeowners.
taken out of context. they only focus on that line nia.....

Use Chatgpt. It will quote you the sources. This was part of what it mentioned.
The Workers' Party (WP) did propose reducing the number of Build-To-Order (BTO) flats during the COVID-19 period. In 2019, the WP released a working paper titled Counting Down to Zero: Are There Alternatives to VERS?, which recommended cutting back the annual BTO supply to 9,000 units, down from the 16,000 to 17,000 flats that were being built at the time.
This is the word for word paragraphs mentioned by WP in the WP paper in 2019:

Resident population growth has been approximately 30,000 a year since 2010 and 2011. Assuming an average household size of 3.3, this would mean that around 9,000 or so new dwelling units are required annually. Completions within the same time period have far exceeded the resident population growth. Private vacancies have only started to inch down, but there are still around 12,000 private units completing up to 2022. Will the HDB have a vacancy rate problem, compounded by a still steady stream of 16,000 to 17,000 BTO units in the last few years, which will continue to increase supply up to 2022?

BTO projects should continue, but, rather than creating too many new towns, planners would do well to consider, in future, partly meeting demand from new family formation by selling balance flats in mature estates acquired under the Universal Sale and Lease Back scheme or USB (see previous chapter). This would help advance urban renewal in the mature estates where many Singapore [sic] desire to live, since these are nearer to the city centre.
Chatgpt seems to have distorted WP's supposed 'proposal' because WP was questioning if HDB would have a vacancy rate problem, WP was NOT proposing to cut BTO supply.

For me, Michael Thng is the one that shines.

He subtly hinted to the prof to answer his own question (on which to prioritise) then goes on to articulate a good response complete with appropriate reinforcing hand gestures.

A pleasure to listen and watch.

You are absolutely right. Extremist PAP supporters like to gaslight to cover up PAP's screw up.

What's new? Hahah.

Let the result of GE2025 do the speaking.

If someone tries to spread falsehood, it's better for us to debunk it rather then allowing the spreader to mislead unsuspecting readers.
