Think it’s a school holiday and maybe off in lieu for some companies

If it’s a “true public holiday”, there would be free hdb parking, no ERP etc etc

Saturday is declared as public holiday, that is the truth. I am just talking about Saturday.

Whether individual companies wanted to declare Monday as off in lieu, that's their call.

hard to do so.....

Sorry, I need to report you for fake news.

That monday after polling day is not a public holiday. For government organisations, it is off-in-lieu.

For private sector, the companies have the flexibility to either give off-in-lieu to be cleared or the employer can simply pay the worker a extra day's salary to cover that monday and tell the worker to come back to work on monday.

"

Is an employee entitled to another day off if a public holiday falls on a rest day or non-working day?

Yes, if the holiday falls on a rest day, the next working day is a paid holiday.
If the holiday falls on a non-working day or off day, the employer may decide to compensate the employee with an extra day’s pay in lieu of that holiday or give the employee another day off as a holiday.

"

I am saying Saturday is declared as public holiday, which is a fact. For those who need to work on Saturday, which many workers do, it is officially a holiday on Saturday.

I was never talking about Monday. It's your company's decision whether they give you off in liue.

That's too much to ask for!!! Wishful thinking is all I can say. Perhaps you want to ask the opposition candidates to petition for it after they won their seats?

Does this make the country vulnerable in terms of inability to respond to global events?

If tmrw US President make some crazy announcement again, we have no parliament to react ah…?
Nope. Just that it's under certain martial laws if not mistaken.
All Agencies still functioning as usual.
And under Singapore constitution LAWs, a election must be called upon within certain days (can't rem the days)
Can google for more info

In fact no one is impt enuf to create disturbance to a country if the assembly and constitution is strong and powerful to run the country by itself.
If US President were to mati tmr, another would juz take over cos the country's foundation is solid
