I agree with this, but then the voice of the opposition online has created a facade of what actually happened at the polls. I was taken aback by the vote swing towards the PAP as well; indirectly caused by the online sentiments.

if voters choose to be sheeps they will be moved in one direction be it by a wolf or a sheep dog

Sengkang MPs-elect thank voters following improved showing

The WP team in Sengkang thanked voters during a victory parade to celebrate its win in GE2025.

The opposition party won 56.31 per cent of the vote against the PAP last night, up from 52.12 per cent in the 2020 election.

The team, which comprises Ms He Ting Ru, 41; Associate Professor Jamus Lim, 49; Mr Louis Chua, 37; and Mr Abdul Muhaimin, 36, waved to supporters from a truck and made a brief stop for photos at Rivervale Community Club this morning.

Sengkang resident Andrew Yap, 60, came out specially to meet them. The businessman said he usually rests at home on Sundays but decided to walk around the neighbourhood this morning, hoping to see them.

“They came in only five years ago but really made a difference... They are responsive to your needs. When the lift in my block was spoiled, they fixed it quickly. When any facilities are spoiled, they fix it quickly,” Mr Yap said.

We’re really blessed to be residing here: Yew Tee resident on PM Wong’s leadership

728a9c.jpg

Mr Shariff Mazlan, a resident of Yew Tee, had planned to go shopping with his wife and two-year-old son, Ihsan Ali, today.

But they made a special pit stop to greet Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and his team when they turned up at Yew Tee Square. The family also managed to get a photo with the MPs-elect for Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC.

“Our future’s in your hands,” he told PM Wong.

Mr Shariff, 32, who works for a subsidiary of the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (Muis), said: “We decided to stop by because we wanted to show support for our Prime Minister, Mr Lawrence Wong.

“We’re really blessed to be residing here in Yew Tee with his support and leadership. Due to the landslide win that PAP garnered, I’m sure that it will boost their confidence and help us in the long run."

We’ll spend the coming weeks getting to know more residents: Nee Soon GRC MP-elect Goh Hanyan

6a8381.jpg

Ms Goh Hanyan, one of four fresh faces elected in Nee Soon GRC, told ST while greeting residents at Chong Pang City in Yishun today that she feels “extremely humbled” by the strong mandate that residents have given her team.

The PAP team led by Law and Home Affairs Minister K. Shanmugam won Nee Soon GRC with 73.81 per cent of the vote against new opponents Red Dot United.

Ms Goh said: “I’m feeling extremely humbled to get the mandate to continue taking care of the Nee Soon residents. Seeing the faces here, and the other people that we've met along the way, reminds me why our team is doing this, and we are dedicated to continue serving the residents.

“We didn't get to meet all the residents over the last few weeks, so we'll spend the next coming weeks getting to know all of them, listening to them, knowing what they want, so that we can better serve their needs.”

Ms Goh also spoke about the future ahead for Singaporeans.

“The message for Singaporeans is that the mandate that I'm grateful that we got as a party for Singapore will help us steer Singapore through these times, given the global climate. And I think we will stand united and firm throughout this next phase of our journey,” she said.

Next steps towards Bishan’s new hawker centre

0ca09d.jpg

While it is too early for him to get into specifics, Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat said today that he will work with the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment and National Environment Agency to get a hawker centre up and running in Bishan.

Speaking to reporters during a victory parade in Bishan-Toa Payoh and Marymount, Mr Chee said that having a hawker centre in Bishan – which he spoke about during his rally speech on April 30 – will give residents “access to delicious and affordable hawker food”.

Following his team’s win, Mr Chee said he will get his two new colleagues, Ms Elysa Chen and Mr Cai Yinzhou, involved in town council work as he thinks it is a useful way for them to learn how to improve the lives of residents.

He recalled a piece of advice given to him by Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean, who said he had to spend 50 per cent of his time in ministry work, 50 per cent of his time in grassroots work, 50 per cent of his time on party work, and 50 per cent of his time with family.

When he responded that the figures did not add up, Mr Chee recalled SM Teo saying: “Precisely, that's because this job is not humanly impossible for anyone to do by himself or herself. You've got to build a team.”

Liang Eng Hwa and Edward Chia thank supporters at Mother’s Day event

A boisterous lion dance performance rang out at Chi Hock Keng Temple in Fajar Road, in honour of Bukit Panjang SMC MP-elect Liang Eng Hwa and Holland-Bukit Timah GRC MP-elect Edward Chia.

Residents gifted flower garlands to Mr Liang and Mr Chia, who were attending their first community event, a Mother's Day celebration, after the election. Mr Liang won a decisive 61.41 per cent of the votes, while Mr Chia’s team – led by Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan – claimed victory with 79.29 per cent of the votes.

In unison, the crowd sang Teresa Teng’s classic Small Town Story, a song which Mr Liang had often referenced in his speeches to describe the Bukit Panjang town: “There are many stories in this small town / Filled with joy and happiness.”

Mr Liang told residents it had been a tough fight and thanked them for their strong support. But he quipped in Mandarin: “MPs need to be very diligent and hard-working, but it still can’t compare to how diligent and noble mothers are!”

On the sidelines of the event, Mr Liang told ST that he had strengthened connections with residents over the last five years. Beaming, he said: “This will be my best term.”

The popular backbencher, who is set to begin his fifth term as an MP, added that he had exchanged phone numbers for the first time with his opponent, Singapore Democratic Party chairman Paul Tambyah, at the counting centre last night.

Describing the race with Dr Tambyah as a “gentleman’s contest”, Mr Liang said: “He’s a good man. I’ll find some time to meet up with him.”

Chua Chu Kang residents will never walk alone!: MPs-elect for the area

612723.jpg

Dr Tan See Leng and Chua Chu Kang GRC's MPs-elect greeted residents in the area as they made their way on a victory lorry through the wards this morning.

Residents – some from their homes – enthusiastically waved at them as the lorry drove past. Some drivers honked at the lorry to congratulate the newly elected team.

Mr Jeffrey Siow, who is new to the team, showed residents his personalised Liverpool jersey as Dr Tan said – referencing the football team’s tagline – over the loudspeaker: “Residents, you'll never walk alone!”

“I'm a new signing,” Mr Siow said, laughing.

Singapore’s international partners have noted strong showing for PAP: Josephine Teo

10e80c.jpg

Singapore's international partners have been watching the outcome of the May 3 election, and besides congratulatory messages, some have also noted the strong showing for the ruling party.

Revealing this at a doorstop interview today, Minister for Digital Development and Information Josephine Teo, who leads the PAP team that won Jalan Besar GRC, said some international partners noted that Singapore voters have been “very rational in recognising the risks and uncertainties”.

"(Some have also) signalled their belief that a united Singapore is more prepared to weather these storms that are bound to hit Singapore," she said of the PAP's election victory that saw a winning vote share of 65.57 per cent.

“(Looking) at the results for the PAP in this general election, I think it is a very strong signal of support for the team led by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong,” Mrs Teo said.

At the GRC level, Mrs Teo said: “As a team, we are deeply grateful to our residents for their strong support. We are also very humbled by the trust that they have given to us.

“We have always said we do not take any single vote for granted, and we have every intention of fulfilling our pledge – that is, to be honest, to be hard-working, and to be helpful in terms of the plans for our town.”

Myself I personally feel that I don't need or want to support opposition parties anymore.

Disappointment after disappointment - I think better to just watch after my own personal interest instead of national interest. Will back the PAP from now on.

WP has not decided on NCMP appointments: Pritam Singh

When asked if there is an indication of whom the WP will field as its Non-Constituency MPs, WP chief Pritam Singh said: “No, not yet, we haven’t met as a party yet.”

Later, party chair Sylvia Lim mentioned again that the party “has yet to decide on this”, but said that this could be an opportunity for leadership renewal.

The WP will be offered two NCMP seats following its showing in Jalan Kayu SMC and Tampines GRC, which had the highest vote percentages among losers at the polls.

Political newcomer Andre Low lost to labour chief Ng Chee Meng with 48.53 per cent of the vote in Jalan Kayu SMC, while the WP team in Tampines garnered 47.37 per cent of the vote, losing in a four-cornered fight to the PAP. This means Mr Low and one member of the WP Tampines GRC team will be offered NCMP seats in Singapore’s 15th Parliament.

WP chief Pritam Singh congratulates PM Wong on election victory, acknowledges it was a tough fight

5049e8.jpg

WP chief Pritam Singh congratulated Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and the PAP on securing a strong mandate to lead Singapore in the next five years but also acknowledged that it was a difficult fight for the WP.

In a doorstop interview at Eunos Market at about 12.45pm today, he said the “challenges are real” for any opposition party in Singapore to make inroads into the political system.

He also paid tribute to his team members for their hard work, adding that the WP looks forward to serving all the residents in constituencies they have won – Aljunied, Sengkang, as well as Hougang.

I was a former counting agent

I can tell you NSP won't even have more than 0.1 % in final results

They got 0.18% in final count... sample count always got margin of error, generally should be within the 4-5% error range, this figure calculated by mathematicians.

Math behind sample count
In the article, can see SMCs tend to have up to bigger margin of error, up to 4%.

#GE2025: "The Business Times put out a note saying that there were quite alot of absentee voters in Tampines and Jalan Kayu right? And if some of them had been present and hypothetically voted for the WP, the result could have been different," said WP's Pritam Singh on Jalan Kayu SMC loss.
