The property market will collapse if SDP proposals are adopted and many Singaporeans with the bulk of savings tied to their properties will become poorer as a result. Really poorly thought proposal.

Question is why he wants to get in?

To help Singkies or to show his opponents the finger?

U choose a barber who cut yr hair nicely, do u ask yrself is it because he got pride and he wants to do a good job or because he just wants to earn yr money?

These are totally irrelevant. What matters is u trust the barber to cut yr hair and he does it well.

According to many korkors here over the last few days it’s all paper loss and gains what. Why affect Singaporeans?

I thought Singaporeans were smarter than that, sell high buy high, upgrade cannot be sustained forever blablabla

how come so much pushback from this sentiment? :s13::s13::s13:

  • WP has transformed into the most electorally successful and stable opposition party.
  • SDP has a core support base, but struggles to convert support into seats.
  • NSP has largely faded, with vote share collapsing after 2011.

i rather they propose that HDB resale market is banned

all HDB flats can only resell back to HDB

can only sell back hdb ... 160 media left out the critical parts headlines to make sdp sound radical

shitt biased times

It’s a solution with good intention BUT what abt those ppl already bought? Their properties jitao deflate?

Not practical at all.
First, more people will rush to apply, but many will end up unsuccessful in getting a unit.

Second, this will drive up resale prices even further, making it even harder for those who didn’t secure a BTO.

Third, those who do get a BTO will likely sell it later at a higher price in the resale market, hoping to cash in on the “lottery effect.”

I suggest allowing each Singaporean couple to apply for a BTO only once, but still granting them access to two HDB housing loans. This way, the profit they earn from their first HDB can give them a financial head start in life. To ensure long-term stability, a portion of the proceeds — say 50% — should be locked into their retirement account. This helps reduce the amount of money flowing back into the property market or being spent on non-essential things like gambling.
I actually think the SDP proposal could work

But it has to be going forward, meaning existing houses will not be affected

New HDB units can only be purchased as BTO from hdb and can only be sold back to hdb so there is no way to make a profit from the sales. But it has to be new flats and not existing ones or ones that people have already booked and are waiting for them

And of cos there could be permutations. Maybe this neighbourhood is only hdb that can be bought from hdb and sold to hdb while this neighbourhood the BTO is bought by hdb and can be sold as resale - so there is still a constant stream of resale.

And those that are sold back to hdb can be resold so the “resale” is still not dead

Will this crash existing resale flat prices? I don’t think so. At least not so fast. Cos even if implemented today, by the time first batch of these BTO can be moved into and MOP fulfilled, it’s at least 10 years. People should have time to adjust by then and of cos once it’s approved, people can still profit but they know the days of BTO lottery is coming to an end

It will take at least 10 years before the effect starts and full effect probably 15 years

So i think it’s workable but it has to be going forward. Applying this to existing flats will kill a lot of people depending on this for retirement funds

the history and core of SDP is tainted... as long as CSJ is there, people wont take it seriously one

other than PSP and WP, the rest of the parties are just not credible enough.

PSP i think still got a bit chance cuz got TCB. and he set up the stage for Hazel poa and LMK to lead... but the two of them also need to start to find the quality next generation.

This should be good since housing should not be used as speculation asset for flippers

Ah but they fail to understand the sinkie pawn sinkie mentality

let’s say I fresh grad just bought BTO for 500k last year

now BTO worth 270k? My value just drop by half?

how I flip my 500k BTO for 1 mil! I rather pawn future sinkies
Then the fresh grad kids next time scold lao pei how?? Then father how ? Scold back ?

For CSJ's case, I wanna know if he is serious about cutting hair or just wanna play with scissors.
