Weak US jobs report may delay Fed rate hike, lift Singapore shares
Source: TheEdge Markets | Publish date: Mon, 6 Apr 2015, 07:19 AM | >> Read article in News website

SINGAPORE (April 6): Singapore shares may open higher on hopes that the Federal Reserve will delay raising interest rates, following a weaker-than-expected US nonfarm payrolls report released last Friday.

US employers added only 126,000 jobs in March, compared to 264,000 in February and 201,000 in January.

"(The) disappointing nonfarm payrolls can't be blamed on the weather or the shake-out in the oil & gas industry," Rabobank's senior US strategist Philip Marey wrote in a note to clients.

Doesnt this look like 2007...

I feel it's abit overdue though, compare to US and Europe markets. Both have hit their highs alr. and STI still lagging behind, 500pts shy from those 2008 days...

With Singapore easing their currency, Europe printing money, and China lowering Interest rates..I hope the bull market will run abit longer :)

To STI 4000 , Cheers! :s13::s12::s12::s12:

STI 3500 level soon

after that 300 points more back to 2007 high

those that bought sti at 3800 in 2007... would need like 1 decade to get back to that level... damn sad hor?

but even if STI hits 3800? does it means its overvalued? I would say no

last time in 2007.. blue chips were trading at 20-30 times earnings

now in 2015.. banks selling for 11-12 times earnings
marine stocks under 10 times earnings

STI = 14 times earnings

we are still cheap and lots of room to bull up to 20 times earnings

STI isnt overvalued at 3.8k imo.
abit sad for those who bought at 3.8k and then stop (but good thing is they got collect dividends, and if they reinvest, should profit by now)
But unlikely those who buy index would be that suay to buy the day before crisis and stop there. They usually either do some DCA or have actually bought at other levels before crash.
OR invest div at least, to profit by now.

Agree that our stock market is still cheap. Compare to S&P about 19. Ours have more room to grow.

When one compares SG to US, both seems about right to me.
US markets break new high due to so many rounds of QE. Market loves QE, currency don't.
If one were to take out the QE effect, US's level would essentially be roughly like SG.

US S&P 500 pe about 20, SG about 14 sounds about right.

Btw, STI has been on a upward bull run since start of the year while US has been more or less stagnant.
Anyone considering the May Effect? It hits each of the past 5 years since 2010 except 2014.

ah sell in may and go away.

was prepared last year but the correction only starts closer to the end of the year.
anyway this year also same routine, sell some and wait for correction. :s22:

I'm gonna sell in may, go away and never come back. Moving majority to us market. Might buy back some dividend stocks during correction.

Sg market lacks volatility
