It is an extremely important game that debuted.
It basically disrupted the Apple Arcade, due to its free-to-play strategy and has no reliance on pay-to-win for single player. Only competitive play (PVP) will see whales playing gacha often to get the correct team of characters. So the argument that games in Apple Arcade have no micro-transactions has no advantage anymore since consumers can simply ignore the subscription paywall and download Genshin Impact instead. And players can play it for a very long time.
So Apple will likely have to do a second round of project cancellations because of an exodus of existing subscribers from their service.
I am also very impressed with the development team from China. Based on the requirements in technology and aesthetics, they are likely to be mostly Masters/PhDs graduates with extensive experience, judging from their previous games, Honkai Impact 3.
So this action RPG genre is now under lockdown, because the barrier to do better than Genshin Impact, is just insurmountable (with the exception of Nintendo themselves).
Luckily, I never bothered with the Unity engine. Just because the Chinese team can use it to make Genshin Impact, does not mean you can do the same.
