1. no it's best to book your rooms online using the Genting website and pay via credit card. coach of cos u can book separately. best is if it's your first time, book coach + rooms through travel agency.
2. credit card if book online. cash if book thru travel agency.
3. the dates u going the rooms might be fully booked. which brings me to point 1.no point taking risk.
4. normally 3d2n is more than sufficient.

Hi, I'm trying to plan a trip to Genting first time with my friends, all under 18. I have a few queries.

1) Is it okay if I just get the coach ticket and then book hotels over there? (Jan-Feb so should be okay)
2) If yes, can I pay via cash payment and book on the spot? If not credit card required?
3) Hotel vacancies are most likely available during that period right?
4) How many days do you recommend us to stay? about 8 people, male female 1:1 ratio.

from my experience long ago when i was underage, went a few times with friends only..

best solution, book first world hotel through travel agency. FWH got separate tour agent check-ins counter (is it still there? the one near the bus terminal) where you can just collect your room key with the voucher the travel agent issued to you. im not sure if other hotels also ok, but the key is to have the room prepaid. on this note, using someone's else credit card and book through website MAY be ok, but i believe they have the right to verify the card & refuse to let you check-in if the cardholder is not checking-in himself.

don't try to walk in.. when i was 14 i walked in and showed my passport, they shoved it back to me and asked me to get my parents to book instead ended up buying hotel from a stranger there

Is there any bus from genting to KL Sentral direct?

so far my trips have been cable car down to Lower Skyway, then Go genting bus from Lower Skyway to KL Sentral.

Go Genting bus usually paid for using GP, but cable car have to use cash.
Is there any cheaper way than this?

Safe trip up and back to Singapore. Drove up 4 hours 30 minutes and back took 4 hours. The weather a night is really cold so wear something warmer if you intend to stay outdoor. But if you just staying indoor, not so bad actually. My favorite live pub at first world under renovation, boring.

A lot of people over the weekends due to a HK celebrity live show over 2 days and a company function held there as well.

Other than that, nothing special.

Casino wise, not too bad.

i think some guy saw us holding the hotel brochure so he followed and overheard us saying we couldn't make a booking.. he brought us to casino where we waited outside, he came out and told us to meet another guy somewhere else to collect the hotel key card and make cash payment.

believe they use GP to redeem and go around looking for people to sell room to.. got the 2 queen-sized beds room for a night at highlands hotel for 250RM i think

Cable Car
Pricing: Getting to Genting Highlands Resort | By Skyway Cable Car
Do try to find out if cable car is under maintenance or not bcos the boarding point at Genting will be different .

If u are taking the yellow bus, there's no need for u to take the cable car.
For the Go Genting red bus, unless the cable car is under maintenance, u will need to take cable car from the lower station .

From LCCT-Sentral-Genting
LCCT to Genting: take the direct bus service AeroBus which cost rm35, book online got discount @ rm31++ journey is about 2.5hrs

Aerobus - Cheap, Convenient and Comfort

Take bus from LCCT to KL Sentral: rm8 journey est 60min. Then at KL Sentral buy Genting bus ticket (plus cable car ticket included) rm9.30 but... the next bus ticket available usually aft 1pm if u reach at KL Sentral ard 9-10am. The ticket is hot. Journey 60min to cable cat station then take cable car up. time taken include queueing 20-30 min.

Genting counter is @ B1, same level as the drop-off point for airport shuttle, it’s the kiosk on the left, shld be able to see it or the Genting buses as the shuttle bus enter into Sentral building)

Other suggestions:
Once you reach KL Sentral take the rm25 shared taxi or book whole cab 80-100 which is beside Genting 2nd floor counter.

Alternatively you may want to try taking monorail from KL Sentral (start of monorail, no worry taking from either side) to Titiwangsa Station (end of the monorail line, so no need to worry missing the station). Besides this station, less than 100 m, there is a bus terminal that has a Yellow bus that departs every 30 mins going to Genting FWH bus terminal. No need to take cablecar. Since this bus does not allow advance booking for the bus tickets, chances of catching earliest bus there is possible. You just need to reach there, buy the ticket and wait.

Btw, bus ticket cost $6.60 and monorail cost roughly $2.40 ringgit.

Going to Monorail: The Monorail station is less than 100m walk from KL Sentral. You need to walk round the on going construction site, remember to becareful of bus and car motorbike when crossing the road.

Directions to Monorail station:
From KL sentral station, go down to the bus bay via staircase next to escalator. At the bus bay, there's one way traffic , so you just need to follow the one way traffic and walk towards the end of the terminal.
At the end of terminal, on the right hand side you will see a sheltered paveway/construction site, just follow the sheltered pavement.

*Upon see a traffic cross junction, cross the road and turn right , walk down along the shophouses and you will see the monorail station.
*Alternatively, continue with the sheltered pavement, walking along the shophouses and cross the road when you see the monorail station directly opposite.

Genting to Kuala Lumpur
Take taxi @ Resort hotel B5, one person is rm20, bao taxi is rm60, the taxi will bring you to titiwangsa, from titiwangsa, can take their LRT to Bukit Bintang, China town etc.
Take Bus @ First world bus terminal, the bus counter is beside WTS counter, bus fee is rm 6.60, also bring you to Titiwangsa, half an hour one bus.

C) Suggested Dining Eateries

1) Inside Casino
-Inside IR, their big pau can feed 2ppl, taste pretty nice..

-New Orleans is a Restaurant (inside casino, Monte Carlo Latte) serving western food set meal with free flow of soup, salad bar and coffee/tea/ice water etc The chicken chop is nice, pork chop a bit tough...you can redeem steak or chicken chop or pork chop set meal from the meal voucher issued when purchase "Go Genting package-RM$200 NN chips/slots credits"

2) Outside Casino
Resort Hotel - Basement 5, 24hrs coffeeshop, inside the alley, beside Malaysia 4D counter.
Sells Roast Duck/chicken/pork rice, mixed veggies rice, zi char, curry chicken mee, jicheongfun ...etc

Directions to Mushroom Farm by Foot
From FWH, walk towards the direction of the bus terminal.

Walk through the bus terminal until there is no more berth (end) and carry on walking along the road (slope downward) until you see the petrol station on your left and continue walking downwards

Look on your left at the area below and that is Mushroom Farm (with zinc roofings around the bend).

4) Strawberry Farm & Gohtong Jaya
Free Genting shuttle.
Go to Highland Hotel, take the cable car down to the Lower Genting Skyway Station. Before reaching the station, on the left side of the station is a horse ranch, alight the cable car and go to the left side of the building towards the horse ranch direction, at the lobby before exiting the building, there is 2 ways going out of the building, take the inside exit, I saw group of tourist boarding/alighting. Wait for free shuttle at the corner where coach exiting, there is a schedule poster for the free Genting shuttle (Genting-Gohtong Jaya-Awana) on the left side of the wall and a row of plastic seat.

Take the free shuttle, alight at Gohtong Jaya bus-stop (1st bus-stop, 3-5min) located near the roundabout before the police check point when you coming from Genting, when you at the bus-stop, you will face a row of shop houses, walk towards the "condominium like building" behind the shop houses, the strawberry farm is opposite of the condominium (dunno what sporthall) separate by a road.

Walk.
Take the Cable car like the above, exit the left side the building, walk along the road toward Gohtong Jaya (left abt 50-70m right turn, 5m left turn and straight all the way, turn right before Gohtong Jaya bus-stop toward the strawberry farm.

Taxi.Was quoted rm10 (dunno per person or wat) never take.

Ask around the ppl working there if not sure.

Nice experience for 1st timer @ strawberry farm, but a bit ex for picking strawberry around rm80/kg

5. Staff will chop on the receipts "PAID", and credit 2 GPs into ur worldcard
6. If u choose slot credits, staff will credit RM$200 into ur worldcard/ Starworld card
7. If NN chips, staff will issue u four RM$50 NN chips for table games.
8. Exchange the NN chip with the croupier for NN colour chips to play table game.

RM50 NN colour chips also can change to RM25 NN colour chips, RM10 NN chips at some table, no need to change to colour chips and you can play anywhere you want
