I was waiting for Genting to complete the outdoor theme park too until the news came out. Sigh.

it looks quite close to completion already. i'm sure they will finish the theme park but the rides will become "brandless"

kind of like the OLD genting theme park. it wasn't universal studios or disney land. it was a brandless theme park and it worked anyway

Better that way. Cheaper. Annual pass for theme park was so affordable. I just want rides and cool air. Whether got apes or not doesn't matter to me or the kids.

Just came back from my maiden Genting trip this year and a couple of interesting things to report/share/enquire.

#1 Even though Genting send out a mail to say meal vouchers redemption will be suspended the CNY period, they were still issuing it for Golden Package.

#2 Speaking of Golden Package, I remember an earlier discussion on a massive crowd or long transactions at the Membership counter. This is what happened to me on the 2nd day. There was a massive crowd so I waited for a while to thin but still waited for a while to get my Golden Package. I was told by the staff that the queue on the extreme right on the 2nd Level Membership Counter is for buying Golden Package.

It is not so obvious because the sign is not very clear (flashing above the counter) And it also does not says Golden Package but something like 'Bus Programme'

#3 The former Internation Room apparently is now called VIP T2. The funny thing is I could not enter event though my fren Gold signed me in as guest for the Maxim Gold Room.

So I'm not sure if the VIP T2 is only restricted to Gold members or maybe my fren has to sign me in using the kiosk outside the VIP T2.

If anyone knows, pls share.

#4 The iMax cinema has started showing 3D show. The ticket cost RM33 which is more than 50% cheaper than the iMax 3D from Shaw (ard SGD 19-22). The screen size is decent so worth a visit.

Bus Program counters have always been there since the Old First World casino time. It's a dedicated counter for buying casino rolling packages such as the Golden Package. As for what "Bus" means remains a mystery till today.

About the VIP T2, will check during my visit next week and update. I highly suspect that Maxims Gold Club and the Maxims "VIP T2" (previously IR) is still tagged under two sector. Are you able to access VIP T2 directly from Maxim's Gold Club escalator (next to the Noodle Bar)?

Last time Classic Member requires sponsor for both sector - IR and Maxim's Gold Club if they want to use either entrance - this is despite IR can be accessed from the escalator I mentioned earlier without swiping their membership card.

Yes. Now that you mentioned it, it was probably the case. Just that previously never noticed because it's not really clear what the queue is for. But nmind, I learn new things about Genting every time I go there. So next time can get my Golden Package faster :)

No. Not able to do so now. That was why I find it strange that there was another check at the escalator you mentioned. Also, I do not see any Guest Kiosk near there suggesting that the room is only accessible by Gold member and above.

But that was because if you enter from the Maxim Hotel Entrance to the Gold Club, then you already have access to a 'higher' tier. So no need to check again. But if you enter from the IR entrance, then it's logical to check again if you have been sponsored to enter the Gold Club.

I understand Genting rationale for changing the Silver Club to VIP T2. The SkyCasino Silver Club is severely underused. Even during the CNY when its open to the public (meaning even Classic member can enter freely) the place was still very deserted.

So Genting is probably trying to shift the crowd over to SkyCasino but I guess the old casinos still has its charm. Or probably it's just more convenient for those staying at GG/Maxim/Resort.

Also, I think Genting is anticipating an increase in Gold membership because they lower their requirement from 500 TP to 300 TP this year.

A leisurely walk from Maxim to SkyCasino can take 15-20 mins. I like to play at Sky but I guess I got no choice when I played with NNChips. :s13: But I dun mind the walk. Good exercise.

By any chance did you check out the Membership Counter at the entrance of the VIP T2? There should be two sponsor kiosk. It could have been removed when they changed it from Maxim's Silver Club to VIP T2.

I'll check it out and update during my next visit.

Where is VIP T2 located?
For IR is renamed to Maxims Gold.
And they indicate the IR area as Maxims Gold upper to differentiate from the old Gold club under IR.

I got the name 'VIP T2' from the various Earn and Redeem/Reward item terms and conditions.

I keep seeing the name VIP T2 and assume it to mean the new area cos I do not see the term Maxim Gold Upper being used anywhere at the kiosks.

Of cos there is no actual sign outside the room calling it VIP T2 so I could be wrong too. :o

Yes. The 2 Guest Pass Kiosk is still there but I was not with my fren at that time so could not check if using the kiosks there would allow Silver member to enter.

Last week my friend a silver card holder was allowed to enter Maxims Gold upper from Hollywood's entrance. No need gold or higher card holder to accompany in. However, she is not allowed to redeem the 8GP food voucher at Hainan Express. She is allowed to redeem using GP or cash.

The IR is renamed Gold Club Upper. If your Gold card friend want to let you access the two areas of Maxim Gold Club and Gold Club Upper, he should sponsor you for entry for Gold Club Upper. You can go to the Maxims Gold Club via the escalator down with no further swipe of card.

If the sponsor is for the Gold Club, you would need a separate sponsor for the Upper region. This is what I found out from the member counter outside Maxims Gold Club. They can't help you with sponsorship of the Gold Upper. You need to do so at the kiosk or counter beside the entry point to Gold Club upper.
