Hey,

Feel like getting a mouse from taobao during the 11/11 period. Would like to check if anyone got from there before, and also the warranty wise. Can it be covered in Singapore?

Thanks guys

Buy from taobao basically = buying an export set. Any warranty is typically domestic for CN market. So make the purchase without factoring in local warranty. If you want warranty have to ship back to the seller at your own cost.

Can forget about warranty by sending it back to seller. Bought a few stuffs and when it is faulty, it is hard to get it exchange.

Some of the seller does not accept any exchanges after a couple of days. They will ask you to exchange it with the local distributor there.

That is where the challenge starts. You are not allowed to send things from sg to cn distributor to get your things faulty replaced. They would require you to have a local address to ship back the item. Usually i will just put a cn forwarding services to get it shipped it back to me. Terrible experience if you were to ask me.

So in all if you really want warranty, forget taobao.

How much would it cost to send a typical item all the way back to China? I am guessing it could be even more expensive than the original purchase price in some cases?

Then I wonder how the China sellers can send something all the way from China to here very cheaply. It's one directional.

China -> Singapore : Cheap
Singapore -> China : Expensive

Just to share got one time bought something from china seller as well. Item received was faulty then the china seller ask for video evidence of the item being faulty.

Send them the video evidence and couple days later the seller ask me to ship back the faulty item to them in china. In return they say will give me discount for my future purchase from them. Though for a moment and was like forget it ship back to them the shipping fee also quite expensive and it was only a $10 item.

Thought they would send me a brand new replacement to me and don't need send back the faulty item but turns out otherwise.

So hopefully the item receive from china is not faulty otherwise can be very troublesome. Apparently heard that their shipping fee to singapore is really cheap as got government subsidies the shipping fee but don't know true or not.

It goes by volume. Like my dad in this trade was saying. You got promised volume, you get good rates to ship things out. No volume, you can never get good rates.

Basically, if you buy from Taobao, they consolidate all the items to the warehouse, then this warehouse 1 time shot send a few tons of items consolidated there to ship it out to the selected countries.

Then they will ride with airlines/shipping courier to ship the items over to sg.

China has 1 of the most shipments moving in and out from china.

Sg is just low in volume. Even our local postal services does not have much volume going out from sg. Its expensive to ship things out from here.

Like that how to return any dead-on-arrival purchases from China?

Out of the box already not working properly. Send back costs more than certain percentage of the purchase price, might as well order another one? :s22:

By from aliexpress if possible.

Taobao may look cheap, but if suddenly throw curveball at you (as in extra costs) and end up same or more ex than other websites then you also LLST

I used ezbuy, to ship back tablet cost like $50 for singpost (Had to reach within 2 weeks) + $20 for customs tax (Yes, $20 for a dead tablet made in China. Dunno whether is ezbuy cheat me or not.). This is on top of ezbuy suddenly telling me had to use what sensitive shipping and end up the shipping from China more expensive than DHL from aliexpress and still slower.

Worst of all, I suspect the tablet DOA in the first place because they never pack with enough protection.

Either way no more ezbuy for me. Just buy from aliexpress for more responsibility and no hidden costs.

Don't bother shipping back. If the item is DOA, take photo/video, ask for refund. Sometime you may not get full refund but at least partial or some compensation, from the seller and forwarder.

From my own experience, TB seller with few diamonds rating and above, are usually honest. You can get instant reply with Aliwangwang chat, usually within a minute except after 12am of course. I had ship a big 26" alu luggage before, internal design did not match the description on the webpage. They claimed the design was changed due to customer feedback, yeah, whatever. Well, at least they tried to solve the issue, at the end they shipped additional items that were stated on the page. Still, I had to pay for the 2nd shipment--35CNY.

Others are better, a hard mousepad was damaged by the forwarder cause they junk all the items together to squeezed in every inch of space. Seller offered to either send another item FOC or full refund, I opt for half the item price as it wasn't their fault. forwarder act blur and only offer some discount for next shipment. :vijayadmin:

I would say, generally, TB seller are as good as any genuine seller, even better than local beng seller. The main worry I had is almost always the shipping forwarder, inefficient and unprofessional handling.

Awww. Thanks guys. Thank you guys!

Wouldn recommend that you buy from taobao during peak periods like 11/11. I last time bought during their maker faire discount period, my items took like 1 month to reach me instead of the usual 1.5 ~ 2 weeks.

AliExpress also get their stocks from the same China factories right? Should be same quality.

But does it offer something extra like free returns?

Disclaimer: personally never used AliExpress before.
