Giving handout is like panadol and is not for the long term.
Long term wise set a minimum wage for Sinkies so employers don't play low ball game.
Regulate and control HDB prices as well as stall rental are a few area.

Talk so much also no use, he should join NATO.

I bet all will queue to QUIT!
It's good!

Since most of them are part-timers & have multiple directorships elsewere. We will also see those who are really willing to serve.
Perhaps we will see more politicians with a "listening ear & willing heart"!!

Public transport getting more expensive, for the low income maybe can come out with something to lower the cost. For eg, blue chas card can use as ezlink card with subsidized fare

This year, the effective increase in short journey bus / mrt fair is more than 10% per trip. And this year's increase is actually the one "deferred" from last year. There is another one coming end this year/beginning next year. Compounded, it is significant. The $50 transport voucher is worth less.

By being less wasteful elsewhere for example. The govt is smart enough to figure out where to get the money, as long as it has the political will and thinks it's worth supporting.

Your kind of argument is the reason why people like me are pissed. You just throw the qn back to the person seeking help. You are the govt. If you are not resourceful enough to think it through, dont be the govt.

Lol so convenient. If only life is so bountiful that there is so much wastage to cut without having to make trade offs.

The wants are detailed and extravagant with little to no thoughts about the trade offs required apart from offering the lowest hanging fruit of "eliminating wastage".

Minimum wage for? I retiring in less than 20yrs.
HDB flat I already bought.
Handouts are better for the country coz money goes to those who need it.

Lawrence Wong was the one that increased GST TWICE! Making cost of living increased TWICE. Everyone including Opposition Parties said in Parliament that will increase the cost of living and make our lives harder. But Lawrence tiki and die die must increase...And now people all complaining and he lan lan said "studying how to tackle cost of living concerns"? So that mean before he increased GST, never study properly and ignore all our concerns? Please lar. :cautious::(
Spend 2 years increasing the GST by 2%, but by splitting it into twice of 1% it is actually making it more painful twice... give some people chance to increase price twice...
