Yeah....same for the Nexus S users who waited until NOW then their ICS update come. :D I wondered how many got sick and tired of the wait before ditching it for a Galaxy Nexus or even a S2 with ICS. :(

Well..some of the update is better not to have..On my Nexus S, after the manual update from 2.3.6 to 4.0.3 ,the phone performance totally gone..battery life is bad. Instead of enjoying early upgrade, it became suffering for 3 months..

Now my Nexus S is with 4.0.4 ,surprisingly the performance is back and lively as 2.3.6. However ,it has proudly retired to become my backup phone.

Found one problem after upgrading to 4.0.4, the phone charging now peg at 1A, on 4.0.2, my phone can take in at 1.5a with nexus one charger that is capable of 1.5A charging.

Now the phone takes 2hours to feed in 85% charge compare to 1 hour 20 min with 4.0.2 .

Nothing wrong, this only go according to the stock charger spec

GN specifications is only marginal by today's mobile industry standards to be frank. Then again, to each his own. Have fun with your unrooted GN :)

No, the main reason i bought nexus is because i dun wanna root.
I've rooting experience on Galaxy S, tired of it.
All i want is a vanilla android OS device with good specs and frequently update.

Erm, you can actually unlock the bootloader in less than 5 minutes.

I disagree. I've had every google device since ADP1. The Nexus ONE for example, had very easy updates. If your phone did not get OTA notification, no problem, the bootloader is not locked, so even stock unrooted, you can easily download the update.zip from Google web, and apply it. It's bloody Samsung with Nexus S and G Nexus which locked the bootloader.

May I know how is the reliability of the gn? I can get it for 575sgd in bkk but without warranty. The savings is quite substantial thought....

You're not getting the picture that I'm talking about. I'm not talking about ease of updates. It's whether the updates received are in a timely fashion or not, or if they even add any proper features rather than just big fixes - Those only come in x.0 major jumps, always alongside new hardware.

Yes, you do get updates before the rest of those skinned devices if you're lucky (Nexus S ICS nightmare for some worldwide users?), but it's a perceived advantage rather than any factual one. Because those updates often do not add anything substantial. Bug fixes galore so far. You are guaranteed to get a +1.x jump, but it will usually be lacking features that is hardware specific that will make you wanna upgrade again - how is that vastly different from buying skinned models yearly that come with the latest OS version as that year's Nexus model? :( Provided you get a decently high end/popular skinned model, they too get their +1.x OS update as well, albeit in a delayed fashion, current delay around 4mths+.

And the bootloaders on NS and GN are easily unlockable, so I have no idea what you are complaining about. :D

I do understand the pros of the Nexus models, I'm just saying that the vastly perceived advantage of them ain't really that true past the Nexus One. :(

Exactly what I meant. Bug fixes come hard and fast-ish. Is that what having a Nexus means? Quick bug fixes?

Meanwhile, on those skinned devices, while they do not get updates as frequently or as conveniently OTA, they often as well do not come with as much crippling bugs as Google likes to "include" with their Nexus devices. Why I have no idea - my guess is they do more QC compared to Google engineers. :(

hello guys, i need some help here. My galaxy nexus just went totally dead (won't power on, can detect through com but it says This device cannot start. (Code 10)). The alarm was ringing then it just went dead :(

I will bring it back to samsung but my phone is rooted, is there anyway to restore my phone back to 'normal' even though i can't even access it?

One thing great about the Nexus is that AOSP based roms don't have any serious bugs. Rom dvelopers can just add more features on top without spending time fixing bugs with drivers and so on. To me that's a great plus. :)

Yup, that's a big advantage, also the main reason why I think it's a bit redundant to use Nexus as stock. :D

But I look at the aokp rom page and some of the people inside are facing bugs issues. Are they still stable enough to use??
