I know wat u are saying but rooting isn't really "fixing" anything. it's different from flashing custom roms. u can still have the pure Google experience when rooted but now u get the added flexibility of using apps that u could not have while stock. Titanium backup is 1 good example.

oh yeah u're right, rooting does have it's benefits =) i love titanium backup!

You need to root and unlock bootloader..

[GNex TOOLKIT V4.1] Drivers, Backup, Unlock, Root, CWM, Flash + MUCH MORE [GSM] - xda-developers

I just choose option 5(The all in one)

Thanks for the link, i just rooted and installed the ARHD ROM plus changing the baseband to XXKL1.

Just a question, as this is my first time rooting and changing the rom (and first time using a android phone as well) what are the additional features that I can use? I saw in the ARHD thread and it states RAM optimization, etc. Where do I find the option to do these stuffs?

So you mean i can't change those tweaks as they are all being set already? ARHD is really smooth though, but most important would be the battery life issue for me. I rooted because of the battery life issue =:p

Is there any stuffs for me to look out while my phone is in this ROM? I would need to test the battery life today....

They're called tweaks, not toggles. :D With the know how u can tweak them yourself, but it's better you don't.

Battery life is a tricky thing to quantify - the screen still draws the most power and there's not much tweaks etc can help. Idle drain may be improved though with some kernels, scripts etc. But then again any battery "saved" in idle is easily and quickly used up with just a couple minutes of extra screen on time.

For me, if there's no significant drain when I'm not using the phone, I'm not too concerned about the battery.

Thanks for the info. I myself would mostly set the minimum brightness level for the screen though. Before rooting my phone it sure does save much more battery than before (max brightness). :s22:

Yeah...screen off battery drain is the best thing to quantify and optimize. Anything else is a crap shoot.

DARK PATCHES ON SCREEN!

Anyone noticed this? When you're in a dark room (and by dark I mean pitch black), turn on your camera app (make sure flash is off) and look at the screen, are there dark patches? There seems to be patches and streaks on my nexus screen which I'm concern about.

If it's hard to see the first time, stay in the dark room long enough so your eyes adjusts to the surroundings, then turn on the camera app and take a look...I wonder what it is, or whether or not it will turn into a problem in the long run.

EDIT: Ok la seems I'm not the only one: http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid-razr/453143-weird-dark-spots-screen.html
