i am using my nexus since sat, still figuring how to root it and is unable to root as my notebook went dead.

So if i m going to root later, is it advisable for me to set it to factory default 1st ?

As mine is 4.0.2, does it matter when selecting which franco kernel to use.

Thks in adv.

1) Recommended if u're adventurous and wana do more customization on the phone
2) If going to root, perform it before even setting it up to use
3) Personal preference thou..I jump to AOKP from ARHD(This restarted a few times). Am on Franco Kernel(Again personal preference).Baseband on XXKL1
4) GMarket, bestskinsever(Just ordered a full body armor from them), Mobilesquare(Martin Fields)

Dont have to reset phone..Can just root, unlock and install cwm as it is right now..

Yes, newer Franco Kernel only supports 4.0.3 onwards..So u gonna look for a older version(Probably nt as updated) of the kernel to flash ur 4.0.2 with..

btw, nt planning to flash ur rom?

once I hold volume +/- with power it still come out "Downloading" and stated "do not shut off for the target" and I could not choose "recovery mode", "power off" or "bootloader"...:s22:

Tell u what, rerun GNex toolkit againa and choose the all-in-one option..

GNex Toolkit allows u to relock the bootloader(Which you dont really have to anyway)..

Stock: Settings>Backup & Reset>Factory data reset
CWM: Wipe Data

Thanks man. :) So you just got the nightly #18 there and flashed the zip using CWM?

oh, and do u know of anyway to back up the current kernel?

Actually, i purchase his franco kernel updater app from marketplace..So once in awhile will open it and see if there's a new build..If yes then the app has the option to download and flash it immediately, restarts the phone and you'll have the latest build..

Nope, nv backup..If really wana go back, can try finding the download links for older build online..

Samsung Galaxy Nexus/GT-I9250/ROMs/FrancoKernel - XDA-Developers

I think the above has a few old kernel builds still available..Have not tried downloading yet..
