I got impatient and decided to order one from StoreKini.com. This is the reply I got from them about the warranty and LTE frequencies of the Nexus 7 LTE that they are selling.

Hi again,

All Asus products, including this Asus Nexus 7 2013, comes with 1 year international warranty and should there be any problems with the device, you can bring it back to any Asus service center in the country you're residing or any other country that you're traveling to.

As for the LTE compatibility, the version that we have is the "rest of the world" version which comes with a 3-pin charging adapter suitable for both our countries. It will work in Singapore and Malaysia. Below is the list of supported bands:
Rest of World:
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
HSPA+: 850/900/1900/2100/AWS (1700/2100) MHz (Bands: 1/2/4/5/8)
LTE: 800/850/1700/1800/1900/2100/2600 MHz (Bands: 1/2/3/4/5/7/20)

From what I've read, the EU version isn't selling widely at the moment, so where their stocks come from (if it's a true EU version) might be questionable.

No no, I didn't mean in terms of warranty. I meant in terms of the LTE bands. If you happen to travel in Europe, the "rest of the world" set can be useful.

I suppose you can offer 2 variants of the Nexus 7 LTE in your shop as well. I know if I had the choice (at the same price), I think I would prefer the European set as it is more compatible with the Asia / European region?

on the contrary to wat i read...if you google for 'nexus 7 LTE EU' (source ZDnet), UK google play store already has the stock in dated back to 18th Sep. Nexus EU sets are also available in Germany, Spain and France.

Not saying tat the ones in Malaysia are non UK sets, but like you mentioned, EU sets are marked up in the respective countries already. eg. 299 pounds for the 32gb LTE models if you get it direct from UK google play. so how the malaysia guys make money out of it by selling 1288rig really beats me.

well i suppose we can wait and see if slasher1983 really got the EU set as claimed/advertised.

how do we check if the LTE module inside the nexus 7 can hook up onto 2600mHz band? anyone any insight to this?

all ASUS comes with international warranty. simple as that

Any comment on that? Asus seems to say that the set purchased in the US comes only with US warranty but you are saying that there is no such thing as that. So who is right here? Asus is the one that does the repairs and if they do not accept the warranty for the US purchased nexus 7 then it would defeat the purpose of getting the US set.

Amazon website seems to also cite the US limited warranty too.

What does the warranty card for the US purchased nexus 7 said? Anyone able to scan it and post it here?

Hmmm I did not scan my serial number when I sent it back yst but from what I know from cso from asus not all are covered internationally its so call depends on your luck thingy which I am puzzled why is it this way shouldn't they have a standardized warranty?

From what I know so far, buying from Amazon does not come with international warranty. It only comes with North America warranty.

That's actually a very good price, considering that from the Play Store you'd have to pay USD349.

Traveling in Europe now and it's not easy to find the Nexus 7. Didn't see any when I was in Switzerland and Paris but finally found the 32gb LTE version in Barcelona for 349 Euros.

if you buy in Europe you can claim the VAT when you exit the eurozone. it may end up being cheaper than getting it from states.

Yep, the VAT for Spain is 21%. There may be some handling charges but I think it's gonna be more or less there.

I was looking at Asus US website for the 1st Gen Nexus 7 and it did mentioned "1 Year North America Warranty"

ASUS Commercial Products : : Tablets : Android Based : 7 inch Android Based : Nexus 7

It is possible that the US model has only North America Warranty but those bought from other countries may come with international warranty and probably that why on the Asus website, they tell you to check the warranty card for the warranty terms.

From what I understand, the Warranty Card which comes with the Nexus 7 should clarify if it is North America Warranty, Local Warranty or International Warranty.

If anyone bought from US, could you take a picture of the warranty card minus the Serial Number so we could bury this issue once and for all.

You mean the one at burns road? I have went there they actually do provide repairs but they charge you for the parts
