I think these are some of the reasons

1) Right now you can only buy from Google play. I think there may be some problems buying from SG regarding vpn, credit card etc....

2) Then u need to consider shipping charges. I don't know if Goggle play ship for free? Someone please clarify.

3) Since it is above SGD400, there maybe GST charges? Again. I am not sure about this.

4) There might be a long wait of maybe 2-3 weeks before the package arrives? In SG, you can get it right away. No waiting.

5) If the packages arrives spoil or lost, then more problems for you. In SG, you can actually open and check the condition of the tablet before buying.

So if you don't mind all these troubles, then by all means buy it from US.

Actually my colleague always to US working so can ask him buy one from there

Depending on which state in US he's going to, there are varying amounts of sales tax on top of the USD349. There are only a handful of states in US that are tax free.

3 main reasons why people don't buy them from the US:

a) It's a hassle, as you'll need a VPN, and a forwarder.

b) Unclear warranty status. Asus Singapore has previously indicated they will not service units purchased from the US; although there are others who believe it has international warranty. If you need warranty service, you *may* need to send it back to the US.

c) Different LTE bands. Singapore uses LTE bands 3 and 7. The US LTE set has band 3, but *not* band 7 - This would mean you'll get poorer LTE coverage here.

Non-US/JP sets support bands 3 and 7. However, if you only use 3G, you should not see any difference.

yeah so US sets have only 1800Mhz, no 2600Mhz, why u say JP set support 2600Mhz ?

Nexus 7 (2013) - Tablets & Mobile - ASUS

*4: NA/JP SKU: 2100(1), 1900(2), 1800(3), AWS 2100/1700(4), 850(5), 700(13), 700(17)

NA and JP are same SKU leh..

for me, I prefer the EU model with same lte band as Singapore. From wat I googled, 2600MHz is for indoors n 1800mhz is for outdoor. I dun know in actual scenario is the speed difference really great. so in the mean time I hope I can get hold of the EU model

Sorry for the noob question.

Just found out my Nexus 7 2013 bought from Amazon is US local warranty and not Global warranty.
ASUS@SG was nice enough to help me check.
