The "street" prices of Malaysian sets on lelong.my are below RM 1200/=. Reference: Nexus 7 lte price Malaysia, harga, wts in Lelong

Unless there is a way to verify they are indeed MY sets, there is a risk they are US import sets instead (no warranty, and LTE band 7 support).

Just compare them against official prices, and you should be good to go. The next qestion to ask is, do MY sets come with 'regional' warranty, and will be covered by the SG service center, or are they MY warranty only?

The first link leads to Asus Nexus 7 (2013 Edition) Ready stocks 32GB Memory, 2GB RAM + LTE 4G (Kuala Lumpur, end time 1/6/2014 8:15:00 PM MYT) which states "ASUS NEXUS 7 (2013 EDITION) – ORIGINAL SET ASUS MALAYSIA". This means it's the official Malaysian set by Asus Malaysia. The spec can be found at Nexus 7 (2013) - Tablet & Mobile - ASUS. Not too sure if the warranty is regional though.

Just because a website (or retailer) claims it's "Official XXX stock", doesn't mean it is. Unless you have a way to actually *verify* it, there is always a risk that it may be a US parallel import set instead.

Would be less of a concern if Asus MY would publish a list of their authorized distributors, or online resellers - but they don't.

Recently, I called ASUS Service center about one US LTE unit and they said it is under warranty.

When I told them the set is purchased from Google Play USA, then they said it is covered under regional warranty.

By regional warranty, maybe they meant it as USA region warranty?

It doesn't seem too unreasonable, especially when you compare the price against other global prices.

US/JP Bands:
~SGD435 America (USD349)
~SGD510 Japan (JPY39800)

Rest of the World:
~SGD509 Malaysia via Storekini (MYR1299)
SGD529 Singapore
~SGD530 Australia (AUD439)
~SGD567 Italy (EUR349)
~SGD605 UK (GBP299)

Those with the right connections can probably make a good profit selling them from SG into EU/UK instead; that is until they're officially available in HK.

If you can buy one GST free (eg: if it's available at the airport duty free during departure), it should cost about SGD495.

For some reason my old nexus decided to crack the screen so this 529 for lte model seems reasonable.
