Sian, my nexus 7 entered bootloop out of nowhere last week :( flashing through fastboot gives me a write error and the warranty is over

Which model of the 7 are u using? I suggest downloading a factory image from google and flash. it will wipe your data.

I used WugFresh's nexus root kit, as well as command line but both doesn't work. Can't flash factory image because I can't even flash temporary recovery to my N7 (2nd gen).. Only can get to bootloader :/

think 5.1 is rolling out, though mine not getting it yet.

and i feel, after lollipop 5.0, charging is much faster, and my set battery doesnt drain so fast during locked

getting to bootloader is enough to flash a factory image.

try this video and see if it gets you through

its for nexus 5 but all works the same way. just choose the relevant options for our N7.

p/s: do take note to use the razorg image and not the razor image. I used the WIFI version and couldnt boot up until i realised im using the wrong image

Thanks for the link, but unfortunately using Android ToolKit still gives me the same error <remote: flash write failure>. Gathering from the XDA thread on the same issue, it would seem that the internal sd/chipset is a gone case.

I'm on the WiFi version anyway, so razor is the right one for me. Even tried a 4.4.4 image but still no dice. Guess have to replace my tablet liao :(

ASUS customer service informed me that a motherboard replacement will cost ~$300, might as well buy a new tablet at that price :s22:

I didn't... But i did spring cleaning as some apps doesnt work in lollipop and is draining the battery. Now everything is good expect for the know issue og memory leak. 5.1 should fix that.

I upgraded from 4.3.3 to 5.02 as i deem 4.4 is not a major upgrade and even a downgrade since i lost the native flash support. But the upgrade phrase, i had to install 4.4 series before getting 5.02

I still rate it as the best 7" tablet. But if you are looking for wifi version, maybe mi pad is more logical due to the price, memory expansion and better hardware. Unless you hate miui

I see.

I updated mine to 5.0.2 recently but it seems for me that the battery drains faster than before. Cleared/updated sone apps that may be the problem for battery drain but like not much diff.

Wondering if i should do a hard reset.

Have you tried to clean the cache?

Despite the age of the tablet, the hardware is still more than capable for all but the most intensive gaming situations.

Screen resolution and color is more than adequate. Software update wise you won't have to worry for another year or two.

Biggest minus would be lack of expandable storage. This negative aspect might be lessen if you purchased the 32gb model.

If one were to be super picky, the lack of front facing speakers may be considered a minus point as well. But the rear stereo speakers are more than decent if you hold it in the optimal position.
