Official Android 2.3.3 updates for Nexus One and Nexus S unearthed, available to the impatient

2-22-11-android2332.jpg

Waiting sucks, doesn't it? Yes, yes it does -- which is why we're delighted to see that direct links to the official, final updates to Android 2.3.3 for the Nexus One and Nexus S have both been turned loose. This is especially exciting news for Nexus One owners who've stayed on the straight and narrow and haven't moved to a cooked Gingerbread ROM already, since they're still on Froyo -- but it's also good news for developers working on NFC apps with the Nexus S and Android's freshly-baked NFC API, since it means they'll have real-world devices to start playing with. So go on, get to it -- we know you're not going to wait for the over-the-air notification anyway.

Direct google OTA link for Android 2.3.2 to 2.3.3
http://android.clients.google.com/p...9e.signed-soju-GRI40-from-GRH78C.98f3836c.zip

I have yet to apply this update with standard recovery->apply update.zip method
What holding me back...2.3.3 disabled "fastboot boot " command on locked bootloader..
I find fastboot boot is a god send command that allow trying out of new recovery image by injecting the contents into RAM and run from there..which is very safe to try new recovery..while retaining existing recovery.

You may try the following sequence to keep the root and maintain locked bootloader..

From Android 2.3.2 /rooted/locked bootloader

1) Fastboot boot recovery.img..to boot into recovery CW recovery screen

2) Apply 2.3.3 update.zip ..
=>Do not reboot ,as this 2.3.3 has Bootloader change that disable fastboot boot for locked bootloader.

3) Without rebooting , mount system, apply su.zip

4) Reboot..

I used the method below..root retained....no need to unlock bootloader..
After update..phone run much smoother..scrolling speed is fast..browser is fast..

The color dull people reported is real..however no big deal for me..
I turn on the NFC.put EZLINK card near to my phone..it pick up the card but display Unknown card type..

Code:
I manage to keep the root for 2.3.3 with the flashing sequence listed below.

From Android 2.3.2 /rooted/locked bootloader

1) Fastboot boot recovery.img..to boot into recovery CW recovery screen

2) Apply 2.3.3 update.zip ..
=>After applying update DO NOT REBOOT ,as this 2.3.3 has Bootloader change that disable fastboot boot for locked bootloader.

3) Without rebooting , mount system, apply su.zip
=> This step is to reapply Superuser.apk permission setting

4) Reboot..

Updated... new 2.3.3 feels even faster. I feel it needs to slow down a bit. :D

Can check with Nexus S users that, in 16gb of memory, how much space is for games/apps?

1gb for games/apps, the rest for storage.

I got a dumb qns.. using titanium backup I just have to run "backup all user apps + system data" right? do I have to check any options in settings to make sure the market links are backed up as well?

sorry to check with you again, games like gun bros allow you to download the apk file first then after that download the game data, so in this case, these game data will be in the storage or falls under the 1gb (games/apps)?
