So far the photo looks ok. For those who had been using pixel phone all the wile you would appreciate the big jump in video quality. Not forgetting there was supposed to be a camera early this week I think (remember reading somewhere) so chances are those review are not done with the latest update which should improve the photo. I wanna wait for camera comparison from the latest software but then again at current juncture I think it already beat iphone 13 pro

Thinking software enhancements can make up for the hardware gap to ip13pro/max....dunno la. Compare like that, those who wanna buy either for the camera quality will still end up paying a hefty premium.

Why not a 'cheaper' option with software enhancements to bridge any gaps?

What's your reviews on Pixel since you are with them for so many generations? I'm first timer.

Pixel phones are good for.... (user since nexus or nexii? )

-vanilla Android OS
-no double apps (like SS)
-monthly security & software updates
-good camera photos/computational photography and very useful is the photos app cloud backup
-bland videos like no HDR recording, but still very stable and usable
-UI software smooth and reliable
-Google Home auto integration, for all google home devices, is just marvelous
-Forgot to add very good voice capture AI, ie. Google Assistant, language translate etc
-And only if you're not a hardware chaser...

I dont know about this new one but Xperia 1mk3 is super super bad in low light.
It has market leading auto focus but that only works in sufficient light.
Even in ample light, due to the software aspect, it is inferior to the likes of s21ultra or iPhone 12 pro. (for e.g inferior HDR shots)
It has sharper action shots though thanks to the excellent AF. (For e.g on action ample light shot, S21U. i can keep 2/10 shots, X1m3 wise, I am likely to be able to keep 3.5/10).
But once it get to low light... its utterly disappointing for such an expensive phone

Super super? Utterly? Guess you have the device? Dunnoboutyou but to my X1iii usage it's very good as one can control how much "dark" there is whilst yet accentuating the subject...

Pixel phone wise my P4XL will be able to get very good HDR captures, but unable to control the lighting and shutter speeds etc of the shot...

Yes, what GeSteSoh is basically it. We aren't best chasers. We don't need to win everything. As long as we get to use vanilla Android and get the updates as soon as they are released AOSP via Google, we good. Haha....

For the other specialties the new device can provide, like recognizing coloured skin tones, magic eraser, improved voice/language translation AI etc... apart from just hardware or camera performance

Yea, I rotate between the p50p (chinese OS), vivo70p+ (chinese OS), X1m3 (HK) and S21U (HK) currently and have access to wife's i12p and kid's p4a.
X1m3 is my jog/action phone currently, in ample light with its superior AF, it has its worth in the midst of action.
I hate HWZ forum's photo attachment logic and will not bother attaching proof or comparison photos so up to you to choose to believe or not.

For still images, if the subject are still and not moving (like your awesome watches), it makes the process much easier.
I tend to take images of my fidgety 8yo & 5yo and pomsky (dog).
Out of my 4 phones mentioned, in low light (like outdoor dusk and later timing with some street light), X1m3 is easily the worst (yes, even more than p4a, unfortunately, I genuinely wish that is not the case for the $ I paid). I am referring to auto mode or force/manual shutter speed to 1/30 to1/50
Auto-mode force and mandate a 1.5-2sec night-mode ish shot which is not usable as long as the subject is in some sort of motion. While shutter speed ranging from 1/30 to 1/50 produces a painted mesh most (80-90%ish?) of the time ( regardless how good the eye AF is).
In comparison, with the v70p+, there is a sport mode which i just need to toggle and shoot away and wooahh.... 30-40% (6 or 8 out of 20) of the shots taken are actually impressive in those conditions with a smartphone sensor (again, my fidgety kids and dogs) and usable, compared to X1m3's 5% (or 1 out of 20 ish).
Yes, one can argue that I should manually set the X1m3 proper, then again, i'll rather bring my alpha1 if that is the case XD

I apologize on side tracking to other phones.
For the above scenario, I mentioned that Pixel4a actually takes a better quickie low light shot vs X1m3 which really showcase pixel's software power with much inferior hardware.
Do take note that past generations of pixel did not change much on the camera and its sensor and they have been tuning their software to that for quite a while.
Funny thing is that with pixel 6, its seemed that their software have yet to be fully and optimally tuned to the upgraded and new sensor and lens yet. Also likely that tensor (which is an exynos variant) is not powerful and mature enough to power through image processing of pixel 6. Vivo70p+'s additional dedicated imaging chip (on top of SD 888+) seemed to be doing a better job in comparison.

The good thing is that software are easier to improve on (with google's good track record on computational photography) VS hardware. So pixel 6 can only get better with time. The future is bright!
