If you read one of the posts that explained it in more detail, you will realise it is not entirely Google's fault ( read telco ) What they can do is to follow Xiaomi example and add in VOLTE no check function in the developer menu. I don't have this issue because I'm using my phone on a telco that has enabled it for Google Pixels. Even have wifi calling at home.
