Might sound crazy. But I noticed that my P8's idle drain has been improved ever since I turned off WiFi calling. A setting which is disabled by default out of the box.

Battery drain on LTE/5G mobile like same same to me. With 5G maybe being slightly worse.

Sold my pixel 8 pro after using it for 3 weeks. Coming from s22 ultra, the camera and everything is great, didn't experience any lag. But the battery is a let down, and there's some UI things I took it for granted on Samsung that was absent in pixel which surprise me.. Also the phone heats up quite often when using. Anyway didn't make any loss since I got it at lowest price during launch. Hopefully pixel can up their game on the battery front in pixel 9. Gotten a s23U.

Think things like

Google top and bottom bar (the Google and info bar) are fix. I like to maximize my use of screen and Samsung can do that much easily, especially with goodlock etc. Can add more grids.

No number for notification on icon (not sure what this is called). Can only show one dot.

Even when configuring the phone, creating pages, pulling apps into folder are much easier on Samsung. Also app drawer you can sort it into folders as well.. Didn't know that's not android standard, so not available in pixel.

One thing I use on Samsung is routines. I can even set the phone to turn on WiFi etc by itself when reaching home for Samsung, but pixel only have very restricted settings. And it doesnt help pixel u have to pull down, go into network and on/off the WiFi.. Not sure why not a dedicated WiFi switch on pixel.

These are just some of them. Sure some things you can just slowly get used to it and do workaround, but Samsung UI just makes it easier, at least for me. Some of you might like the pure Android UI, but I think what Samsung gave is the option to have something more flexible, regardless or whether you are using it, it's there.

Agree on the battery part but I very much prefer P8P over S23U.

The camera without shutter lag in itself is enough for me to switch, plus pixel OS is just a pleasure to daily drive for me.

Good that you got to test drive the phone without cost.

Sorry if this was asked but is it worth buying Japan set? What are the downsides considering the big price difference?

its the same logic applies for previous pixel phones from jp.
shutter sounds, warranty, felica card support... etc

Anyone encounter when connected to android play via usb in car the battery not even going up instead sometime drop. Got use so much power using Waze and play music? 😭

Just buy a wireless Android Auto dongle, and you don't even need to take the phone out of your pocket. Or if you want to charge, you can use your own high power 100W charger in your car's 12V socket.
