I"m hoping to get some help here with my Pixel 8 Pro. Wonder if anyone has run into the same problem and have it resolved successfully.

I've been unable to receive verification OTPs from overseas businesses since I bought the phone two months ago. Google and Microsoft work fine though. I've problem with OTPs sent from businesses in Australia and Japan (e.g. Go/the Taxi App). Otherwise, Google Messages app work fine in sending and receiving messages (including SMS sent from overseas). I don't think there is a problem with my telco as I am able to receive the OTPs after switching the sim card to my 5 year-old Huawei and my wife's iPhone.

I've also tried other fixes like turning on/off airplane mode, toggling the RCS chats, clearing cache on Messages app, rebooting the phone, basically none of the fixes that I've found on the internet works. I also tried using an alternative app like Textra but it didn't work too. I contacted Google support and after failing to troubleshoot, I was told to send the phone for repair. But I seriously doubt it is a hardware issue and that probalby will end up as a wasted trip.

Anyone who has the same problem and managed to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Did you check "Spam and blocked" folder to see if the messages are sent there? Once you open Messages app, click on your profile icon on top right corner and you will find "Spam and blocked" folder there.

Might be related to a march update bug.
Are you on TPG

I'm now with Zero1. Switched from TPG several months ago as the network started to give me problems, can’t access Standard Chartered and Foodpanda apps (fixes like turning on/off airplane mode, etc. given in the forum didn't work). Anyway, I just contacted Zero1 to see if it can offer any fixes.

TL;DR
  • Code hidden within the Google Photos app suggests the Magic Editor tools could soon become available to users without a Google One subscription.
  • The change may include a “metered saves” system, which would allow a limited number of free edits per month.
  • Magic Editor offers impressive capabilities like changing skies, seamlessly removing objects, and creative image manipulation.

Pixel is another Android phone with inferior hardware

The full list of what’s going free includes:

  • Magic Eraser
  • Unblur
  • HDR effect for photos & videos
  • Portrait blur
  • Portrait light: Add light/Balance light features in the Portrait light tool
  • Color pop
  • Sky suggestions
  • Cinematic photos
  • Styles in collage editor
  • Video effects
Google says “you’ll also be able to access these features on more devices, including Pixel tablets.” It will specifically be available for Android 8.0+ and iOS 15+ devices with at least 3GB of RAM, while your Chromebook Plus must run ChromeOS 118+.

Somehow I see these a good news for all Android users. If I wanted a feature ( e.g. iMessage ) that locked me into a certain ecosystem and cannot be used on any other device, I would have just bought an iPhone and stay in its walled garden OS.

The Google as the OEM of pixel devices and the Google as the maintainer of Android OS and it's suite of apps and services are inherently conflicted.

The problem is how they market their substandard pixel hardwares (read tensor) with pixel exclusive features then a few months down the line, suddenly said features can be run by every mother son device via simple software/app integration to run backend on their servers.

Just annoying la.

It's like suggesting that a Toyota (Pixel 6/7/8), with a Ferrari engine (Tensor), is both fuel-efficient (which is not) and capable of 'exclusive' AI self-driving. however, some AI features don't work (Pixel 8), while other brands will get them. there's been a u-turn on the decision, and now these exclusive features will be available to all other brands with capable h/w. so, Tensor is a lie
