Just went to tech house, asked for privacy screen protector. They told me only have fibretech glass and it's a glass. But the way I see, it's like liquid plastic ..similar a piece of cloth in plastic material ... Any one can help me understand this pls? Is it really a glass or not? But the quality is good though.

Is it normal that face recognition still does not work in the dark for Android phones? Or just pixel only?

not all.. but i think only pixel only one that allow it to unlock bank apps.. rest only allow finger print..

the one that able to detect your face in the dark mostly less secure.

You referring to Andriod phones only right?
Many years back i using Samsung S10... i can't unlock in the dark using face recognition.

I know Apple always can, and could unlock with mask too

Today went tech house at Chinatown point. Finally found have screen protector with privacy. As what DigDub bro said, it's a cut out. The lady did it twice for me as the first time have issue with the google case.

But then when she removed the screen protector, It felt like a plastic, though she informed that's indeed a glass. So I checked online , it's called glass screen protector simply because its made up of glass fibres ..hmmm

Yes, Pixel still quite bad at FR in low light. In fact, all if not most of the popular China phones have excellent face recognition in low light conditions when compared to Pixel

i think is not because google can't make it unlock. i think they want to have better security as well low light cannot guarantee the person who unlock the phone identity is the right person, china phone so far i never one that are allow to unlock for singpass but google does.. i notice also under inner display screen got another round cut out hidden under the screen next to camera.. not sure if some sort of proximity censor or additional facial security.

The tech house glass is really a piece of glass. It's not flimsy like plastic film or hydrogel. My wife got the glass privacy version at Westgate tech house for her s24 ultra. I think the fibre glass is another fancy name for hydrogel, which is not really glass. Go for the real glass version, which according to tohchr causeway point also got in addition to Westgate branch. Not all tech house branches got the custom cut glass.

Of course you can't rely on FR to do iBanking and SingPass login...That's not what I am talking about as it is simply not security-proof enough. What I am referring to is the unlocking of the phone faster. FR is one way that can unlock the phone faster w/o the need to use the fingerprint sensor on a power button (like some phone do).

Face recognition faster meh?

Fingerprint can unlock when your phone is still being taken out from the pocket. Also sometimes dont want the phone to unlock all the time if wanting to just check time or day/date.

Try Vivo and Honor Magic V3...you'll know why I am saying this. :) BTW I realised that we should be using the term, "Face Unlock" rather than FR.

When it comes to unlocking, Android also has this additional settings where it will utilise your located or whether the phone is your pocket/on-the-move or connected to your bluetooth LE wearables like your smart watch to stay unlocked but this is not always desirable.

Actually last time when using iPhone, find face unlock a chore because always have to bring phone up to face. Fingerprint unlock can unlock when phone on table.
