How is the battery life of this phone? Been trying to find an android phone with better battery life than iphone 6s.

You're talking bout the non-plus iPhone? Then practically any Android phone has better battery life.

Then again, it depends also on your usage patterns.

Depends on your usage like kEvinErd mentioned. iOS is great for standby battery life, but under heavy usage, gaming, then I think a lot of Android phones will have better battery life. So far for me the smaller Pixel can last me a day of use pretty comfortably, and it has one of the better standby battery life for android i think. Been quite happy with it.

But then again it depends on what apps you install on the phone also.

For me the bluetooth issue isn't that bad. i mostly use bluetooth headset when jogging, and have the phone in my hand. But if use bluetooth headset when phone is inside pocket... then skip a little. haha.

Edit: This morning when out for a jog when the phone is in my pocket still heard skipping. just did the feb security update. seems better? when i first put the phone in my back pocket it'll still skip a bit, and then it's okay already.

I'm using the smaller Google Pixel too. I'm honestly surprised at the battery life desire the small battery capacity.

The standby drain is minimal. Even the screen on time is good! I get 4 hours on average.

Have you tried with other headsets?
I use BT while jogging on the treadmill with my Sonys and I don't get a single skip. I run them at about 40mins at a go.

Anyway, for those interested, i did a sort of re-review of the phone recently. Last time was on my blog here, but this time round trying out video reviews. Feel free to watch if any of you are interested!

TL;DR version:
Despite lacking a few hardware features like lack of OIS, water resistance, stereo speakers, that its closest competitors has, as a whole, it's still a really great phone. It has one of the best standby battery life i've seen (even on the smaller pixel i have), and battery life has been really consistent and stable. Performance also is no horse run.

This is still the phone to beat and i think the best Android phone that money can buy now. And we're talking about a lot of money since we can only buy through resellers or import ourselves, which adds even more costs.

I think it's too expensive for what it is, and not really worth the price. Considering can get phones like the OP3T at much lower costs. But I'm not saying it's the best value for your money. Just saying that i think it's still the best android phone.

Already can't wait for the next generation Pixel. Hopefully really got a cheaper model in the works.

Nope, IMO is not obvious, hence the biasness and assumption of people that Android devices are packed with more RAM hence they need more RAM to run. Moreover, Android devices are equipped with twice and even more RAM means it needs that much more RAM than iOS.

First of all on cold boot, this assumption is not true.

Secondly, this is true after running multiple of the same apps. However, the assumption that Android needs 2-4x more RAM than iOS to run is also wrong.

Based on the diff approaches, I don't see them as which is more efficient. I see them as valid solutions to a given problem based on both soft and hardware configurations. I do not believe one can be said as more efficient than the other. They are diff approaches, one using a soft, while another hardware, hence they can't be compared to be said which one is more efficient.

Cost wise I still believe slapping more hardware RAM costs cheaper than trying to R&D a soft based solution. Good luck trying to compare the cost between a hardware RAM and R&D cost of such soft based solution, not to mention the time the R&D will need to spend to come up with such a "perfect" solution.

You claimed that if Android is packed with more RAM does not mean that the same apps running on Android need more RAM. So why is there a need to increase RAM at the first place? You do know it is slightly expensive to pack more RAM.

I am not sure how relevant is the R&D cost taken into the picture. The income statement of Apple shown that they have no problem capturing a bulk of the smartphone profitability while maintaining high gross margin in the business.

Obviously you're ignorant and either because you did not watch the full video, did not understand the explanation of the differences between iOS and Android implementation or simply not technical at all.

Your fact maybe. There is no base of your view. I won't fiddle too much into this since you won't understand anyway. In my opinion, it was not Android phone needs more RAM to run the same app, but the R&D engineers in Apple, somehow, found an innovative way to reduce RAM usage.. We all agree that iOS was thoroughly researched and optimized.. Furthermore, I kinda feel that iOS was designed with user comfort as top priority.. It has its own way to kill previously used app in order to allocate resources to the app currently in used.

Android phone with more RAM tended to be able to choke more "running" app.. I kinda tried comparing N6 with iPhone 6+ by opening few apps (Chrome few tabs, then Youtube, then Spotify, then Pokemon Go, and return to my very first app of Chrome), and realized that iOS has killed that first few apps, and needed to reload them. Will this cause users discomfort? Yes and no.. Apps, like browsers, Youtube, mails load very fast.. But imagine, playing PokemonGo, then watsapp message pop up from your boss, you reply, then check the email from the boss, check the video content in the email, and switch back to PokemonGo to realize that it has been killed, and you waited for reloading..

PS: I stated only my opinion.. I can be wrong.. And I did not watch that video either..

Yup, you need to watch the video to understand the facts. Not to reduce RAM usage, more or less the same usage depending on apps, but iOS has the soft based solution to "park" those unused apps when it runs out of memory. Android also has something similar, but different. Anyway, just watch the video if want to know more.

I have been an Android user eversince. I pick an ecosystem which I prefer to use albeit at a slightly lousier user experience. I have the mindset of a businessman. Even though I am using Android phones, I did trade Apple shares. We know Apple is commanding the biggest share of the smartphone profits. So everything they have engineered must be working great for their phones in the premium market share to generate such obscene profits.

And as we’ve previously seen, more RAM negatively affects battery life too, which is part of why Android phones need to have larger batteries to attain the same battery life as an iPhone 6 too.

Great review bro, I own a pixel and a op3 and such between both regularly. You can't go far wrong with either. Plus points for pixel are
1) assistant
2) better battery life although Battery life on op3 is also good
3) better camera
4) faster and more seamless response compared to op3. Not to say that op3 is laggy in the first place ah
5) QHD if it's important to you

Plus points for op3
1) much cheaper
2) bigger screen
3) more user customization like double tap to standby etc. Wave to wake etc
4) dash charge ( unbeatable )
5) better selfie Cam?

IMO, if cost is not an issue, get the pixel

That's not a comparison of iOS vs Android. It's a comparison of the iPhone 7 vs Google Pixel. While it's possible to extrapolate data, it's impossible to do a direct iOS vs Android comparison as they run on different underlying hardware.
