Still hesistating to buy coz of the price. And im using s7 edge, dont think i will see any performance improved
Not grey area la. More like it is difficult to prove that you bought it overseas if you are already using it.This is kind of a gray area right? What if I've been overseas for a few years, bought an expensive item overseas a few years ago and have been using it for a few years before coming back to Singapore. Still need to pay?

But let's say you bring back the pixel, and the ICA guy there happens to be tech savvy and knows pixel is not available here. He can stop you for not declaring it if he don't like you lo.
Anyway if bring back the pixel just pay gst to be safe la. Not that much anyway. Still eligible for $600 gst relief if you were overseas for more than 48hrs. So just pay gst on the remaining amount above $600.
I've never had an ICA guy, or anybody really, demand to see my handphone. If it's in your hand carry, I think you should be fairly safe.

Does anyone know how much would be the GST if I declare the value as 1500 SGD for the phone?

Where can order in UK with international shipping? Now the GBP dropped, 32g can just get for about $850..
What if it's a gift given to me? Still must pay GST? Sounds rubbish to me..

By right if gift no need. But if they feel it's not a gift they got the right to charge you GST. The onus is on you to prove it.

IF THE ITEM WAS RECEIVED AS A GIFT, HOW IS THE TAX CALCULATED SINCE THERE WILL BE NO RECEIPT?
If the receipts are not available, the value of the goods will be assessed based on the values of identical or similar goods when computing the GST payable.

Meaning if I can produce the receipt with a difference name and say it's a gift from him....than I'll be exempted from gst.
Right![]()
Yes, as mentioned, it's about the value, not type of items/gift or not gift. The system is set up by ppl, so which one is rubbish?

LOL, how does one prove that something is a gift? A receipt from X to yourself with both parties signatures stating that it's a gift?
