So far, I did a wipe with oem lock/unlock via adb, flashed the current factory image package and it seemed to have fixed or masked the issue.

I'm still not convinced if there's a piece of defective hardware in the phone or is it a software bug causing a failed OTA. But I'll probably find out when the next OTA boots from slot b, and whether the rollback loop reoccurs in a few weeks.

Fingers crossed lol.

I got this from Carousell actually from someone who bought it in Australia. Never gave me any receipt so I am in the losing end now. Been emailing Google support but they keep dodging my replies on how to send for repair or for returns. No idea why they like that. I wanna fix the problem sia. If really cannot I guess have to contact that US repair shop ubreakifixit see if they can do it. Pay the price for not collecting receipt or finding out more on warranty for Pixel

Actually, Google has the right to reject your support request since you did not purchase the device from either Google directly or authorised resellers. Having said that, this wouldn't be a problem if the seller you purchased the device from is not a dick and willing to help you with the communication with Google for RMA. Well, as now you know, there are many such dicks ppl around, better be extra careful next time.

Yea I get that they have the right to reject my request. I even asked them for alternatives like repair and willing to pay also. Still no reply. At least reply to say it cannot be done or something. Not a good method of a support to be honest. Will find out more

Yup, mentioned here as well http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/02/23/feature-fluke-can-now-purchase-items-countrys-google-store/. Yes, will still need a US address if chose country as US, but it does not require a US Google account/VPN anymore.
